*P3a. Description: The 79925 Horseshoe Road property is a one-story, wood frame single-family residence. It was built in the Spanish
Styled Ranch style. The building faces northwest from the end of the Horseshoe Road cul-de-sac. It has a rectilinear plan with an
asymmetrical façade. The dwelling has a moderate-pitch front-gable roof clad in asphalt composite shingles. The roof has broad
overhanging, open eaves with exposed rafter ends. A detached garage is located to the west of the dwelling, connected by a stucco clad wall
and entry gate. The exterior walls of the dwelling are clad with stucco, except for the rear of the home which is partially clad in brick masonry.
There are no windows visible from the public right-of-way. Windows behind the entry gate appear to be vinyl framed sliding sash units. The
doors are wood framed French doors and vinyl framed sliding glass doors. The entry gate is located in the center of the detached garage and
residence. It is covered with a side-gable roof and the door is metal with decorative grille work. Character defining features of Spanish Styled
Ranch style homes that can be seen on the subject property include: the brick / stucco siding, decorative grille work, and exposed rafters /
beams.

The 79925 Horseshoe Road property was researched at the City of La Quinta, the La Quinta Historical Society, the La Quinta Public Library, and
via online archives including Coachella Valley Telephone Directories (1946-1957), City of La Quinta building permits, regional newspapers within
the UC Riverside California Digital Newspaper Collection, aerial imagery from ca. 1930s forward, and the Riverside County Assessor's Office
online property search. Results are limited. The property is not listed in available Coachella Valley Telephone Directories. See Continuation
Sheet for significance and integrity conclusions.
*B6. Construction History: The subject property was constructed in 1969. In 1996, property owner Theodore H. and Laura Hinderaker
obtained a permit to build an ornamental iron fence; the work was completed by Fern's Fence Co (Permit No. 9605-009). In 2002, property
owner Ronald and Tara Alford obtained a permit to abandon the septic tank and connect the residence to the sewer system; the work was
completed by Alms Underground Construction (Permit No. 0204-050). In 2005, property owner Ronald D. Alford obtained a permit to reroof
the residence; the work was completed by Palm Desert Contractors (Permit No. 05-1384). In 2011, Alford obtained a permit to replace the
heat pump and air handler; the work was completed by Best in the West (Permit No. 11-0690). Aerial photography did not offer any
additional information regarding changes to the property over time. No substantial alterations have been made to the front elevation facing
the public right-of-way. The building appears to retain its essential form. Windows, doors, and the roof are contemporary-era replacements.
The roof was originally clad with terracotta tiles. It appears that the detached garage has been partially converted to an accessory dwelling
unit.
