*P3a. Description: The one-story single-family residence at 79875 Westward Ho Drive was built in the Tract Ranch style with custom
elements. It has a L-shaped plan and low-pitched cross-gable roof with a broad overhanging eaves. The exterior walls are wood frame clad
with board and batten siding. The building faces north from the south side of Westward Ho Drive with an asymmetrical façade. oof clad in
asphalt composite shingles. The roof has open eaves with a fascia board and exposed rafters. An attached garage with a front-facing gable
end is located on the west side of the front elevation. The exterior walls are clad in board-and-batten siding. The fenetration at the front
elevation consists of one large tripartite vinyl framed sliding glass window and three smaller tripartite vinyl sliding glass windows. The double
wood paneled front door is recessed beneath a shallow eave. Character defining features of Ranch style homes that can be seen on the
subject property include: asymmetrical façade, wood frame construction, attached garage, a low-pitched roof, board-and-batten siding, and
a minimal front porch.

The 79875 Westward Ho Drive property was researched at the City of La Quinta, the La Quinta Historical Society, the La Quinta Public Library,
and via online archives including Coachella Valley Telephone Directories (1946-1957), City of La Quinta building permits, regional newspapers
within the UC Riverside California Digital Newspaper Collection, aerial imagery from ca. 1930s forward, and the Riverside County Assessor's
Office online property search. Results are limited. The property is not listed in available Coachella Valley Telephone Directories. See

*B6. Construction History: The subject property was constructed in 1962 by the Westward Ho and Bellwood Discount Corporation. In
2001, property owner Grace Mulcahy obtained a permit to abandon the septic tank and connect the residence to the sewer system; the work
was completed by Denboer Engineering & Construction (Permit No. 0110-212). In 2014, property owner David Grau obtained a permit to
reroof the residence with GAF artic white shingle; the work was completed by Palm Springs Carriages (Permit No. 2014-1033). Between 2017
and 2019, the dwelling was repainted, with the original windows remained intact. Between 2019 and 2021, the original aluminum framed
sliding glass windows were replaced with vinyl units. Aerial photography did not offer any additional information regarding changes to the
property over time but the original massing appears to remain intact from the period of initial construction.

The home was built in the Tract Ranch style within the Indian Springs residential subdivision, recorded in 1960-61, and is within the Indian Springs
(previously the Westward Ho Golf Club) neighborhood. The subject property was constructed in 1962 by the Westward Ho and Bellwood Discount
Corporation, who built Tract Ranch style homes with Custom elements between 1961 and 1965.
The dwelling is associated with the theme of Residential Development (1934-1970s), being located in one of La Quinta's first subdivisions after the
development of the Cove, but it does not possess individual documented significance in relation to this theme. The property is assigned a 6Z status
