It was built in the Spanish Styled Ranch style. The building faces east from the west side of Avenida Fernando. It features an irregular plan with a symmetrical façade. The dwelling has a moderate-pitch pyramidal roof clad with red clay tiles in the center of the dwelling, surrounded by flat roof elements at all four corners. The roof is topped in the center with a stucco clad light well and broad, overhanging open eaves with exposed rafter ends. An attached garage is located on the south end of the front elevation. The exterior walls are clad with stucco. The fenetration at the front elevation is patially obscured by heavy vegetation but the front doorway is composed of two wood framed glass doors in a recessed front porch. Windows and doors at the rear appear to be a mix of vinyl sliding glass windows and doors, wood framed glass doors, and aluminum framed sliding glass doors. The entryway patio is supported by four square brick posts. Character defining features of Spanish Styled Ranch homes that can be seen on the subject property include: symmetrical façade, clay tile roof, stucco clad walls, and exposed rafter ends. P1. In 1983, property owner Mr. Tyson obtained a permit to install gas piping; the work was completed by Maple Leaf Plumbing (Permit No. 0055). In 1988, property owner Dorothy Tyson obtained a permit for a compliance survey for a room addition and fence; the work was completed by Morgan Ward (Permit No. 04599). In 1997, property owner Gary E Cardiff obtained a permit to erect an 80 LF 6ft high garden wall; the work was completed by Steve Ellington Masonry (Permit No. 9710-027). In 1998, Cardiff obtained a permit to reroof the residence; the work was completed by Spray Foam of Southern California (Permit No. 9803-079). The home was built as a Spanish Styled Ranch in the La Quinta Country Club subdivision, recorded in 1959, and is within the La Quinta Golf Estates neighborhood. The subject property was constructed in 1966 by an unidentified builder. The dwelling is associated with the themes of Residential Development (1934-1970s) and Recreation and Leisure (1926-1970s), being located in La Quinta's first private country club and the first residential neighborhood associated with club. However, the property does not possess individual documented significance in relation to these themes.
