*P3a. Description: The 80100 Vista Grande property is a single-story wood frame Spanish Styled Ranch residence. The building faces
southeast from the north side of Vista Grande. The building has a rectalinear shape and asymmetrical façades. It features a low-pitched side-
gable roof clad with asphalt composite shingles with an interior brick chimney and a flat roof over the attached garage and western half of the
building. The gable roof has broad overhaning open eaves with a fascia board and exposed rafters. Exterior walls are clad with stucco. An
attached garage is located on the west side of the front elevation. The front elevation is surrounded by a large stucco wall with arches and
vigas that partially obscure and most elements of the south (front) elevation from view at the pubic right-of-way. The fenetration at the front
elevation appears to consist of single-lite aluminum framed sliding windows with internal shutters. The entryway is beneath a shallow eave
overhang behind a decorative iron patio gate. Character defining features of Spanish Styled Ranch homes that can be seen on the subject
property include: asymmetrical facade, stucco-clad walls, vigas, arched openings, and decorative iron work.

The 80100 Vista Grande property was researched at the City of La Quinta, the La Quinta Historical Society, the La Quinta Public Library, and via
online archives including Coachella Valley Telephone Directories (1946-1957), City of La Quinta building permits, regional newspapers within
the UC Riverside California Digital Newspaper Collection, aerial imagery from ca. 1930s forward, and the Riverside County Assessor's Office
online property search. Results are limited. The property is not listed in available Coachella Valley Telephone Directories. See Continuation
Sheet for significance and integrity conclusions.
*B6. Construction History: The subject property was constructed in 1973. In 2001, property owner Malcolm D. Lee obtained a permit
for a sewer connection with the work completed by Econo Sewer Service (Permit No. 0108-095). In 2010, Lee obtained a permit to construct a
stone block wall with the work completed by Candyl Golf Group Inc. (Permit No. 10-0264). In 2013, Lee obtained a permit for a HVAC

B10. Statement of Significance Continued:
Past owners and occupants include: Annette C. Lee (1979; Desert Sun / Permits) and Malcolm D. Lee (2001-2015; Permits).
The home was built as a Spanish Styled Ranch home within the Desert Date Garden subdivision, originally recorded in 1924. The subject property
was constructed in 1973 by an unidentified builder.
The dwelling is associated with the theme of Residential Development (1934-1970s), being located in one of the early subdivisions outside the Cove
during the mid-20th century. However, the property does not possess individual documented significance in relation to this theme. The property is
assigned a 6Z status code: Found ineligible for NRHP, CRHR or Local Register through survey evaluation.
The dwelling is ineligible under NRHP/CRHR/Local Criterion A/1/B, as it has not been associated with significant events or patterns of events in local,
regional, state, or national history; not individually eligible under Criterion B/2/B, as it has not been identified as having an association with an
important person; not individually eligible under Criterion C/3/C, as it does not embody the distinctive characteristics of a type, period, or method of
construction; and not individually eligible under Criterion D/4/D, as further study of the dwelling would not appear to yield information which could
be considered important in local, regional, state, or national history. Additionally, the property was not found to be individually eligible under Local
Register Criterion A, as it was not found to exemplify a special element of the City of La Quinta. The dwelling has not been substantially altered and
maintains integrity from the historic period.
