NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of La Quinta
City Council will hold a PUBLIC HEARING on Tuesday,
June 18, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. in the La Quinta City Hall Council
Chambers, 78495 Calle Tampico, La Quinta, California, on the
following item:
THE FISCAL YEAR 2024/2025 ANNUAL ASSESSMENT
FOR LANDSCAPE AND LIGHTING ASSESSMENT
DISTRICT 89-1
Maintenance of landscape improvements in roadways and
drainage facilities is a very important service in our commu-
nity. Landscaping, if well maintained, provides beautification
and enhancement to the surroundings, along with a positive
effect on property values.
At the Public Meeting, City staff will present the proposed
assessment levy and will accept questions thereon. At the
Public Hearing, the City Council will hear comments in
support of and protests against the annual levy prior to
acting on the levy of assessments for Fiscal Year 2024/2025.
Any property owner may mail a protest against the assess-
ment to the City of La Quinta, Bryan McKinney, Public
Works Director/City Engineer, 78495 Calle Tampico, La
Quinta, CA 92253.
Members of the public wanting to listen to this meeting may
do so by tuning -in live via http://laquinta.12mile-
sout.com/video/live.
The annual assessments generated by the existing 1972 Act
City of La Quinta Landscaping and Lighting District will fund
the cost of providing installation, servicing, maintenance,
and operation of landscaping, lighting and appurtenant facili-
ties within the City of La Quinta that are exempt under provi-
sions of Proposition 218 voted in by the California residents
during the November 1996 election.
Any person may submit written comments on the contem-
plated action listed above to the attention of Public Works
Director/City Engineer Bryan McKinney at bmckin-
ney@laquintaca.gov prior to the Public Hearing and/or may
appear and be heard in support of, or in opposition to the
item at the time of the Public Hearing. If you challenge the
decision of the action listed above in court, you may be
limited to raising only those issues that you or someone else
raised either at the Public Hearing or in written correspon-
dence delivered to the Public Works Department at, or prior
to the Public Hearing.
In the City's efforts to comply with the requirements of Title
II of the Americans with Disabilities Act Of 1990, the City
Clerk Department requires that any person in need of any
type of special equipment, assistance or accommodation(s)
in order to communicate at a City public meeting, inform the
