A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITYOF LA
QUINTA, CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING THE COUNTY OF
RIVERSIDE TO PLACE COLLECTION OF COSTS FOR SOLID
WASTE HANDLING SERVICES AT SINGLE- FAMILY
DWELLINGS ON THE TAX ROLLS
WHEREAS, the La Quinta City Council wishes to ensure the uniform collection of
rates for solid waste handling services at single-family dwellings and place collection
thereof on the County of Riverside Tax Assessor's Tax Rolls; and
WHEREAS, the attached "Exhibit A" sets forth the maximum rates that may be
collected for solid waste handling services at single-family dwellings in the City of La
Quinta pursuant to a franchise agreement with an Effective Date of July 1, 2022, entitled
"Amended and Restated Agreement Between The City of La Quinta and Burrtec Waste
and Recycling Services, LLC, for Solid Waste Handling Services" (Agreement), as
amended by that certain Amendment No. 1 to the Agreement, dated July 1, 2023, and
Amendment No. 2 to the Agreement, dated July 1, 2024; and
WHEREAS, the City of La Quinta has determined that applicable provisions, if any,
of Proposition 218 (Articles XIII C and XIII D of the California Constitution) have been
satisfied in connection with the matters addressed by the Resolution.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
La Quinta, California, as follows:
SECTION 1. The City Council hereby requests the Riverside County Tax Assessor to
place collection of costs for solid waste handling services at single-family dwellings in the
City on the County's tax rolls as set forth by "Exhibit A," attached hereto and incorporated
by this reference.
PASSED, APPROVED, and ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the La Quinta City
Council held on this 4th day of June, 2024 by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmembers Fitzpatrick, McGarrey, Pena, Sanchez, and Mayor
