A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LA QUINTA, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE
OBLIGATION AND ALLOCATION OF CORONAVIRUS
STATE AND LOCAL FISCAL RECOVERY FUNDS AS
CREATED BY THE AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN ACT
WHEREAS, On March 11, 2021, the President of the United States signed into law
the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) to provided continued relief from the public health
and economic impacts of the COVID-19 public health emergency; and
WHEREAS, ARPA created the Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund
(SLFRF) that provided direct funding to state, local, and tribal governments across the
county to support their response to and recovery from the COVID-19 public health
emergency; and
WHEREAS, in Treasury's final rule, local governments can choose the standard
allowance of up to $10 million in revenue loss which can be spent on government
services, the City of La Quinta (City) elected to use the standard allowance to streamline
the process of reporting and compliance; and
WHEREAS, the City accepted an allocation of SLRF in the amount of $9,987,008,
payable in two tranches, which the City is in receipt of.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
La Quinta, California, as follows:
SECTION 1. That the standard allowance under the American Rescue Plan Act
(ARPA) Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLFRF) Program to replace
lost public sector revenue up to $10 million to spend on government services through the
period of performance is hereby elected by the City of La Quinta.
SECTION 2. This resolution shall go into effect upon adoption and the City Clerk
shall certify the adoption of this Resolution.
PASSED, APPROVED, and ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the La Quinta City
Council held on this 17th day of December 2024, by the following vote:
