The purpose of our review was to determine the adequacy of the existing structure to support the proposed installation of solar panels on the roof as shown on the panel layout plan. Based upon our review, we conclude that the existing structure is adequate to support the proposed solar panel installation. Design Parameters Code: California Building Code, 2019 Edition (2018 IBC) Risk Category: II Design wind speed, Vult: 110 mph (3-sec gust) Wind exposure category: C Seismic: Importance factor, I: 1.00 Mapped spectral response accelerations: SS: 1.51 g S 1: 0.71 g Site class: D Spectral response coefficients: SDS: 1.007g SDI: 0.805g Seismic design category: D Connection to Roof Mounting connection: (1) 5/16" lag screw w/ min. 2.5" threaded embedment into framing at max. 72" o.c. along rails (2) rails per row of panels, evenly spaced; panel length perpendicular to the rails not to exceed 67 in. Rail cantilever shall not exceed 50% of connection spacing. Conclusions Based upon our review, we conclude that the existing structure is adequate to support the proposed solar panel installation. In the area of the solar array, other live loads will not be present or will be greatly reduced (2019 CBC, Section 1607.13.5). The gravity loads, and thus the stresses of the structural elements, in the area of the solar array are either decreased or increased by no more than 5%. Therefore, the requirements of Section 503.3 of the 2019 CEBC are met and the structure is permitted to remain unaltered. 651 W. Galena Park Blvd., Ste. 101 / Draper, UT 84020 / T (801) 990-1775 / F (801) 990-1776 / www.vectorse.com VSE Project Number: U2398.0023.211 Springers L1c Residence T O R 11/9/2021 E n G I n E E R S The solar array will be low -profile (no more than 10" above the roof surface). Thus, we conclude that any additional wind loading on the structure related to the addition of the proposed solar array is negligible. The attached calculations verify the capacity of the connections of the solar array to the existing roof against wind (uplift), the governing load case. Regarding seismic loads, we conclude that any additional forces will be small. Conservatively neglecting the weight of existing wall materials, the installation of the solar panels represents an increase in the total weight (and resulting seismic load) of 1.9%. Because the increase in lateral forces is less than 10%, this addition meets the requirements of the exception in Section 503.4 of the 2019 CEBC. Thus the existing lateral force resisting system is permitted to remain unaltered. Limitations Installation of the solar panels must be performed in accordance with manufacturer recommendations. All work performed must be in accordance with accepted industry -wide methods and applicable safety standards. The contractor must notify Vector Structural Engineering, LLC should any damage, deterioration or discrepancies between the as -built condition of the structure and the condition described in this letter be found. Connections to existing roof framing must be staggered, except at array ends, so as not to overload any existing structural member. The use of solar panel support span tables provided by others is allowed only where the building type, site conditions, site -specific design parameters, and solar panel configuration match the description of the span tables. The design of the solar panel racking (mounts, rails, etc.) and electrical engineering is the responsibility of others. Waterproofing around the roof penetrations is the responsibility of others. Vector Structural Engineering assumes no responsibility for improper installation of the solar array. VECTOR STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING, LLC 11 /09/2021 Jacob Proctor, P.E. SolarWedge by Professional Solar Products. Inc, is an innovative low profile commercial/ residential PV mounting system. The system provides an easy to install and economical solution for 5, 10 or 15 degree structural attachment. SolarWedge integrates with Professional Solar's patented "top down" commercial RoofTrac and FoamJack stanchion products. The system dramatically lowers installation and shipping costs while optimizing installed wattage on the roof. Advantages of the SolarWedge` * Easy handling and Installation: Each box supports up to 30' (front & rear) of ReofTrac support rails * Integrated Leveling System: Compensates up to 2.1/2" of roof variation using an included 1/2" x 4" stainless steel stud * Fully Engineered: Load tested to 30 lbs. per sq. ft (approx. 110 mph wind load) at up to 6' centers * Finished Aluminum Parts: Clear anodized angled support brackets match support rail. FoamJack stanchion parts are machine tumbled and cleaned to provide excellent bonding of foam, flash or SolarWedge Precision extruded angles of anodized aluminum compress the support rail at a fixed angle while dramatically increasing the strength Leveling Feature Stud rolls into the post up to 2-1/2" to eliminate the need for cutting studs on the job Foarrill Each kit includes the Foam -lack with a 3" aluminum seal plate. (;bs/ft2) (mph)' ` RoofTrac 65 (77") 40 50 125 (100`") TEST SETUP (as shown in attached drawing detail): Three modules, as specified above, were ooited to 136'x1.5'x2.5" Professional Solar Products (PSP) patented RoofTrac3 support rails using an assembly of 5/16' Stainless Steel (SS) bolts, SS Icck washers and proprietary PSP aluminum clamps and inserts. The Roofs racs support rail was attached to the PSP RoofTrac' structural attachment device with 3/8* SS hardware at four attachment points. The setup was attached to 2"x6' wooden rafters using 5/16" x 3-1/2" SS lag bolts. The attachment spans consisted of 48" front to rear with structural attachments spaced 72' on center. TEST PROCEDURE (as shown in attached drawing detalo: The test set up was top loaded to 50 Ib/ft2. The setup remained loaded for an approximate period of 30 minutes. the maximum defection and any signs of permanent deformation were recorded. The test setup was then inverted and loaded to simulate the uplift condition. The test set up was re -loaded to 50 Ib/ft2. The setup remained loaded for an approximate period of 30 minutes. The maximum deflection and any signs of permanent deformation were recorded. TEST RESULTS: The maximum top load deflection was recorded at 0.313", with no permanent deformation. The maximum uplift deflection was recorded at 0.250", with no permanent deformation. This document certifies the RoofTrac9 mounting system used with the modules, as specified above, withstands the stated static pressure load, equivalent to the stated wind speeds**. The mounting system performed as expected. Sincerely, James R. Vinci, S.E.
