Rachel JacobsSILVERROCK MURAL PROPOSAL RACHEL JACOBS 2025 For the City of La Quinta RachelJacobs.com Art@RachelJacobs.com 818.433.0865 ABOUT ME My name is Rachel Jacobs, and I am a professional Freelance Artist and Art Production Assistant in film and television. In 2023, I graduated Summa Cum Laude from San Diego State University with a degree in Graphic Design, where I honed advanced skills in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, as well as screen printing and experiential design. My freelance projects, including branding for local businesses and interactive installations, have sharpened my ability to create visually compelling designs. In addition to Graphic Design, I studied Scenic Design for theater, gaining expertise in set painting, woodworking, metalworking, and drafting. This led to roles as an Art Production Assistant on productions for Netflix and 20th Century Studios, where I collaborate on immersive set environments. My recent focus on murals perfectly blends my passions for graphic design and fine art. A notable project, my colorful electric box mural in downtown Palm Springs, transformed a utilitarian structure into a celebration of eye-catching fun, engaging the community and visitors alike. My experience crafting bold, community-focused murals makes me eager to contribute to La Quinta’s vibrant public art scene at SilverRock Resort. I am excited to bring this passion and expertise to create meaningful work that resonates with the La Quinta community. For the past 10 years, my acrylic and oil portraits have sparked conversations about beauty and societal expectations of women. My murals, painted at meaningful locations like my elementary school, downtown Palm Springs, and SDSU’s new football stadium, celebrate places that shaped me. When I saw the City of La Quinta’s call for artists to create a mural at SilverRock Resort, I felt compelled to submit a design. La Quinta has been my sanctuary—a place of peace and escape every three-day weekend, school break, and much of the pandemic. The desert landscape, framed by majestic mountains, inspires a sense of serenity and wonder. My mural design celebrates this natural beauty, featuring local species like Desert Bighorn Sheep, Roadrunner, Mountain Lion, Brittlebush, Palm Trees, and Cacti. Each side of the building showcases these rendered in a vibrant, illustrative style that invites exploration. To complement the tranquil setting of SilverRock Resort, I’ve chosen bold colors, including a vibrant Bougainvillea pink. This palette, inspired by the region’s flora, creates an inviting atmosphere and a dynamic photo opportunity for guests. My mural aims to enhance the Resort’s appeal, engage visitors, and honor La Quinta’s unique landscape, fostering a deeper connection to this extraordinary community. THANK YOU RACHEL JACOBS It would be so incredibly meaningful to have my design in a place I grew up eating breakfast on the patio with my grandparents and learned how to golf. Thank you so much for your time and consideration. RachelJacobs.com Art@RachelJacobs.com 818.433.0865
