It’s not required. Reference California Fire Code 907.2 4) Fire alarm occupant notification is not required for this building. Two notification appliances are shown inside one of the apartments. Partial occupant notification should not be provided. If occupant notification is desired by the owner, then occupant notification shall be provided throughout the building in accordance with CFC 907.5 and a statement shall be provided on the plans that the owner has voluntarily chosen to provide occupant notification although occupant notification is not required for this building by the California Fire Code. CFC 907.2.9.1 5) An automatic smoke detection system is not required for this building inside of the apartments if single and multiple station smoke alarms are provided. One of the apartments shows a smoke detector in one of the bedrooms. Explain the intention of this device. According to the floor plan, the apartment unit with the smoke detector appears to be unit 107, but the enlarged riser room plan references unit 203 for the location of this smoke detector.
