SPECIAL MEETING
NOVEMBER 24, 1997
Special meeting of the La Quinta City Council was called to order at 7:00 PM by
Mayor Holt followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
PRESENT: Council Members Adolph, Henderson, Perkins, Sniff, Mayor Holt
ABSENT: None

CONFIRMATION OF AGENDA
PRESENTATIONS
Mayor Holt presented a plaque to Lawrence Best expressing the City's appreciation
F for his service on the Parks & Recreation Commission.
BUSINESS SESSION
1. CONSIDERATION OF ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION RECITING THE FACT OF
THE NOVEMBER 4, 1997 GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION, DECLARING
THE RESULTS AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS PROVIDED BY LAW.
Mrs. Juhola, City Clerk, advised that at the November 4, 1 997 General
Municipal Election, John Pena was elected Mayor for a two-year term and
Terry Henderson and Ron Perkins were elected to the City Council for four
year terms. There were 9,299 registered voters and 30.3% voter turnout.
RESOLUTION NO.97-93
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA QUINTA,
CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE FACT OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION
HELD ON THE 4TH DAY OF NOVEMBER, 1997, DECLARING THE RESULTS
AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS PROVIDED BY LAW.
It was moved by Council Members Perkins Sniffiness that Resolution
No.97-93 be adopted. Motion carried unanimously.

At this time, Mayor Holt expressed her appreciation to her colleagues, staff
and family for their support and cooperation during her term in office.
Council Member Sniff then presented a plaque to Mayor Holt expressing his
appreciation for her service to the City.
2. SWEARING-IN OF NEWLY-ELECTED MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
MEMBERS.
City Clerk, Saundra Juhola, administered the oath to Mayor Pens, Council
Members Henderson and Perkins.
Mayor Pena presented a plaque to out-going Mayor Holt expressing the City's
appreciation for her service on the City Council and wished her well.
Mayor Pens, Council Member Perkins and Council Member Henderson
expressed their appreciation to the community for their election.
3. SELECTION OF MAYOR PRO TEM.
Mayor Pens opened nominations for Mayor Pro Tern.
Council Member Perkins nominated Council Member Henderson
There being no further nominations, Mayor Pens declared nominations
closed and entertained a motion that a unanimous ballot be cast in favor of
Council Member Henderson for Mayor Pro Tern.
It was so moved by Council Members Sniff/Perkins and carried unanimously.
MINUTE ORDER NO.97-181.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned upon motion by
Council Members Sniff/Henderson and carried unanimously.
