APPROVAL
The Design and Development Department has reviewed and approved Special Event Permit 2026-0005,
pursuant to LQMC Section 9.100.130 (Special Events - Nonresidential), based on the following Findings:
A. The event will not be detrimental to the health, safety and general welfare of the community in the
event consists of the display of parked vehicles consisting of vintage cars, sports cars, and
customized vehicles.
B. There is adequate area to conduct the event and to accommodate the anticipated attendance.
The show vehicles will be displayed within La Quinta Community Park and adjoining parking
spaces and attendees will have sufficient space to view the stationary vehicles.
C. Sufficient parking will be provided for the anticipated attendance. Both on-street parking and
parking at the City parking lot located on Avenida Bermudas will be utilized.
D. Food service operations, medical facilities, solid waste facilities, sewage disposal methods and
potable water service have been provided.
E. Fire protection plans and facilities have been provided to the satisfaction of the fire marshal.
F. Security plans and facilities have been provided to the satisfaction of the sheriff.
G. Public roadways providing access to the event are capable of accommodating the anticipated
traffic volumes in a reasonable and safe manner with minimal disruption to local traffic circulation.
This approval authorizes the applicant to conduct the event pursuant to compliance with all conditions of
approval of this permit. The applicant must obtain any permits, as may be required below, in order to
physically set up the event.
CONDITIONS OF APPROVAL
Completion/confirmation prior to start of the event:
1. Permits for any temporary structures (e.g. tents and/or canopies exceeding 400 square feet),
stages or open flame devices shall be obtained prior to their installation. Prior to the event set-
up, please contact the La Quinta Building Division and Riverside County Fire Safety for any
additional requirements of the Fire Marshal, including obtaining inspection permit from the
Riverside County Fire department.
2. Generators shall be separated from tents/canopies by a minimum of 20 feet and be isolated from
contact with the public. Refueling containers shall not be stored next to the generator. Each
generator shall have a portable fire extinguisher available with a minimum rating of 10BC.
3. If any ground excavations are required, please contact Underground Service Alert (USA) at (800)
227-2600 or (800) 422-4133. This service is free of charge provided USA is given a two-day notice
prior to commencement of work.
4. Extension cords shall be over-current protected and/or ground-fault interrupter protected. No
additional taps are to be in any device. All extension cords shall be of 12/3-gauge wire or greater
with approved connectors.
5. The applicant shall give advance notice of the anticipated traffic restrictions to be enforced during
this event and provide a simplified traffic control plan showing the access routes to all existing
businesses (i.e. Veterinarian Office and the Pet Salon) on Avenida Montezuma, the La Quinta
Museum, and the residential properties in the surrounding area. With exception of the temporary
street closure of Avenida Montezuma, all roadways, parking areas and pedestrian traffic aisles to
other businesses and activities in the vicinity shall be maintained accessible at all times.
6. No on-street parking outside the approved event area may be utilized for valet parking services.
All on-street parking areas shall remain available for public use.
7. An adequate number of restroom facilities shall be provided, to accommodate participants and
guests. ADA-compliant portable restrooms shall be provided as may be required by the Building
Division.
8. Temporary trash receptacles shall be provided at the event area so that trash/debris can be
deposited accordingly. Please coordinate your recycling activities with Burrtec Waste and
Recycling Services (760) 340-2113 to ensure the site is left free of any litter.
9. The applicant shall complete the application for, and adhere to, City of La Quinta Encroachment
Permit (ENC2026-0016), issued by the City’s Public Works department. Applicant shall apply for
provide the traffic control plan and complete necessary insurance requirements.
10. Applicant shall comply with the attached conditions of approval from Riverside County Fire
Department. This includes pending fees that shall be paid prior to event inspection.
11. All vendors shall obtain a City Business License. The serving of food and alcoholic beverages
during the event shall be subject to the rules and requirements of the Riverside County Health
Department and State of California Alcoholic Beverage Control, respectively.
12. No stage structure is permitted as part of this event.
Completion/confirmation during the event:
13. The use of amplified equipment for music presentations is permitted, provided that all provisions
of the City of La Quinta’s Noise Ordinance (LQMC 9.100.210) are complied with.
14. Certain areas providing access to the event area are public and, as such, general public access
may not be denied or restricted in any manner that extends beyond the limits of this event as
approved.
15. Public property shall not be defaced by paint or other types of permanent materials such as pen,
markers, etc.
16. Operations such as warming of foods, cooking demonstrations and similar operations that use
solid flammables, butane or other similar devices which do not pose an ignition hazard, shall be
approved upon inspection.
17. All attached Conditions of Approval issued by County of Riverside Fire Department shall be
followed.
Completion/confirmation after the conclusion of the event (if necessary):
18. The event sites used shall be left clean and in its original manner after the event. Temporary
trash receptacles shall be provided in and around the event areas. All event areas shall be left
free of debris at the end of each day’s activities, and after the event concludes.
19. All signage must be removed at the conclusion of the event, or each sign is subject to a $50.00
fine. Please contact the Code Compliance Department at (760) 777 -7050 regarding removal of
signage.
20. Any damage to public hardscape due to the installation and/or removal of the directional signs
shall be repaired as directed by the City Engineer. This includes but is not limited to sidewalks,
curb and gutter, landscaping, and pavement especially within the surrounding public streets.
FINAL ACKNOWLEDGEMENT/CONTACT INFORMATION
By holding this outdoor event, the applicant agrees to indemnify, defend and hold harmless the City of
La Quinta (“the City”), its agents, officers and employees from any claim, action or proceeding to attack,
set aside, void, or annul the approval of this special event permit. The City of La Quinta shall have sole
discretion in selecting its defense counsel. The City shall promptly notify the applicant of any claim,
action or preceding and shall cooperate fully in the defense.
The City may elect to add Conditions to this application request to mitigate any problems that arise not
previously addressed herein.

The application for the special event permit was reviewed and approved by the Fire Department with the
following conditions. This approval should not be interpreted as permission to conduct the event without
respect to other permit requirements by the City of La Quinta.
FIRE LANES/ACCESS [CFC 503]
Fire lanes and fire hydrants shall be maintained unobstructed and accessible.
GENERATORS

portable fire extinguisher available with a minimum rating of 10BC.
HEATING EQUIPMENT
Portable outdoor gas-fired heating appliances shall not be used inside of tents. Only listed and approved
portable outdoor gas-fired heating appliances utilizing a fuel gas container that is integral to the appliance
shall be used. Portable outdoor gas fired heating appliances shall be listed and labeled in accordance with
ANSI Z83.26/CSA 2.37.
COOKING EQUIPMENT [CFC 3107.12]
Portable fire extinguishers shall be available for the cooking operation. Fire extinguishers shall have a
minimum rating of 2A10BC. The Class K type fire extinguisher is required for frying operations. Fire
extinguishers shall have a current service tag (within one year). Deep fat fryers shall be located outside
tents.
FOOD TRUCKS
The exhaust systems, including hoods, grease-removal devices, fans, and ducts shall be inspected and
cleaned periodically. Automatic fire protection systems shall be serviced semi-annually.
L.P. Gas - Propane containers (empty or full) shall not be located inside of a tent. Containers shall be
secured with a chain or other approved device to prevent from tipping over.
COMBUSTIBLE MATERIAL [CFC 3107.19]
Accumulation of combustible material (including trash) is prohibited near any ignition sources and within
30-feet of the perimeter of tents and membrane structures. Waste shall be stored in approved containers.

TENTS
Approval from the Office of the Fire Marshal is required before erecting any tent over 400 square feet or
any tent (without sidewalls) over 700 square feet.
An inspection by Fire Department staff may be conducted before and/or during the event.

Start your engines and get ready for the Annual La Quinta Hot Rod and Custom Car Show
on February 21st, 2026. Brought to you by the Greater Coachella Valley Chamber of
Commerce in partnership with the City of La Quinta and Title Sponsor La Quinta Chevrolet
Cadillac and Presenting Sponsor BMW Performance Center, this event will be held at La
Quinta Community Park located at 77-865 Avenida Montezuma. Entertainment, food,
drinks and a beer garden will be available at this family friendly event. The event will be
open from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and is FREE to attend as well as FREE parking.
The vehicles will meander through the spacious grounds of the park, allowing viewers to
take their time and comfortably enjoy each vehicle on display. This year the show will be
recognizing several prize-winning categories, including Best Street Rod, Best Classic, Best
Muscle Car, Best Sports Car, and more. Attendees will enjoy the proximity to Old Town La
Quinta and many area shops, restaurants, hiking trails and parks.
