Landscaping, if well maintained, provides beautification and enhancement to the surroundings, along with a positive effect on property values. At the Public Meeting City staff will present the proposed assessment levy and will accept questions thereon; and the City Council will hear comments in support of and protests against the annual levy prior to acting on the levy of assessments for fiscal year 2026/2027. Any property owner may mail a protest against the assessment to the City of La Quinta, Bryan McKinney, Public Works Director/City Engineer, 78495 Calle Tampico, La Quinta, CA 92253. Members of the public wanting to listen to this meeting may do so by tuning-in live via https://www.laquintaca.gov/livemeetings. The annual assessments generated by the City of La Quinta’s Landscaping and Lighting District 89-1, formed pursuant to the California Landscaping and Lighting Act of 1972, will fund the cost of providing installation, servicing, maintenance, and operation of landscaping, lighting and appurtenant facilities within the City of La Quinta that are exempt under provisions of Proposition 218 voted in by the California residents during the November 1996 election.
