S 111 Any appliance for which there is a California standard established in the
Appliance Efficiency Regulations will comply with the applicable standard.
$ 115(a) Fan type central furnaces shall not have a pilot light.
$ 123 Piping, except that conveying fluids at temperatures between 60 and 105 degrees
Fahrenheit, or within HVAC equipment, shall be insulated in accordance with
Standards Section 123.
$ 124 Air handllng duct systems shall be installed and insulated in comptiance with
Sections 601, 603 and 604 of the Uniform Mechanical Code.
Controls
$ 122(e) Each space conditioning system shall be installed with one of the following:

manufacturing facilitles (and all others not explicitly exempt from the
requlrements of Sectlon 112 (d)) shall be installed with an automatic time switch
with an accesslble manual override that allows operation of the system during

different schedules for weekdays and weekends and have program backup
capabilities that prevent the loss of the device's program and time setting for at

that responds to temperature within the zone. Where used to control heating, the
control shall be adjustable down to 55 degrees F or lower. For cooling, the
control shal! be adJustable up to 85 degrees F or higher. Where used for both
heating and cooling, the control shall be capable of providing a deadband of at
least 5 degrees F within which the supply of heating and cooling is shut off or
reduced to a mlnimum.
$ 122(c) Thermostats shall have numerlc setpoints in degrees Fahrenheit (F) and
adJustable setpolnt stops accessible only to authorized personnel.
$ 112(b) Heat pumps shall be installed with controls to prevent electric reslstance

R-4.2 or enclosed entirely in conditioned space. Openings shall be sealed with mastic, tape or other duct-closure system
that meets the applicable requirements of UL 181, UL 18'lA, or UL 1818 or aerosol sealant that meets the requirements
of UL 723. lf mastic or tape is used to seal openings greater than 1/4 inch, the combination of mastic and either mesh
or tape shall be used.

2. Building cavities, support platforms for air handlers, and plenums defined or constructed with materials other than
sealed sheet metal, duct board or flexible duct shall not be used for conveying conditioned air. Building cavities and
support platforms may contain ducts. Ducts installed in cavities and support platforms shall not be compressed to cause
reductions in the cross-sectional area of the ducts.
3. Joints and seams of duct systems and their components shall not be sealed with cloth back rubber adhesive
duct tapes unless such tape is used in combination with mastic and draw bands.
4. Exhaust fan systems have back draft or automatic dampers.
5. Gravity ventilating systems serving conditioned space have either automatic or readily accessible, manually operating
dampers.
6. Protection of lnsulation. lnsulation shall be protected from damage, including that due to sunlight, moisture, equipment
maintenance, and wind. Cellular foam insulation shall be protected as above or painted with a coating that is water
retardant and provides shielding from solar radiation that can cause degradation of the material.
7. Flexible ducts cannot have porous inner cores.

automatic control to shut off the lighting. This automatic control shall meet the
requirements of Section 119 and may be an occupancy sensor, automatic time
switch, or other device capable of automatically shutting off the lighting.
EI St31(d)2 Ovenide for Building Lighting Shut-off: The automatic building shut-ofi system
is provided with a manual, accessible ovenide srtitch in sight of the lights. The
area of ovenide ls not to exceed 5,000 squarc feet.

Automatic Control Devices Certified: All automatic confd devices specified
are certified, all alternate equipment shall be certified and instralled as directed
by the manufacturer.
Fluorescent Ballast and Luminaires Certified: All fluorescent fixtures specified
for the prcject are certified and listed in the Directory. All installed fixtures shall
be certified.
lndividual Room/Area Controls: Each room and area in this building is
equipped with a separate switch or occupancy sensor device br each area with
fl oor-to-ceil ing walls.
Uniform Reduction for lndividual Rooms: All rooms and areas greater than 100
square feet and more than 0.8 watts per square foot of lighting load shall be
controlled with bi-level switching for uniform reduction of lighting within the
room.
EI St31(c)Daylight Area Conhol: All rooms with windows and skylights that are greater
than 250 squar€ feet and that allow for the effective use of daylight ln the area
shall have 50% of the lamps in each daylit area controlled by a separate switch;
or the effective use of daylight cannot be accomplished because the windows
are contlnuously shaded by a bullding on the adjacent lot. Diagram of shading
during different times of the year is lncluded on plans.
