Monsoonal storms, which ty- pically affect the Imperial Valley and surrounding areas from July through early September, can create hazardous conditions, in- cluding flooded roads, limited access to some areas, and dama- ge to electric infrastructure. IID crews are prepared to respond around the clock when storms impact the system, assess da- mage, make repairs, and restore power as safely and quickly as possible. "IID is ready for summer storm conditions, and we also want our customers to be ready," said IID Board Chairwoman Karin Euge- nio."When severe weather knocks down lines or causes outages, our crews respond with safety as the top priority. Customers can help by preparing ahead of time, kee- ping their contact information updated, and following IID's offi- cial channels for verified informa- tion." While IID crews are prepared to respond around the clock to ou- tages and emergencies, customer preparation is equally important. One of the most important steps customers can take is ensuring their phone number and email address are current with IID so they can receive outage updates and other important notifications when extreme weather affects service. Customers can update their information through IID Customer Connect, the IID Con- nect mobile app, or by calling IID Customer Service at 1-800-303- 7756. Customers are also encoura- ged to prepare an emergency kit with flashlights, extra batteries, bottled water, charged devices and backup power banks, pres- cription medications, first -aid supplies, and other essentials. During and after storms, cus- tomers should stay away from downed power lines and always assume lines are energized. Customers should never touch a downed line or anything in contact with it. If a power line is down, call 911 and report the is- sue to IID as soon as it is safe to do so. IID also reminds customers that safety is always the District's top priority and that restoration times may change during storm events. Avoid flooded roads and never drive through moving water or areas where stormwater may be covering hazards. Follow IID's official website and social media channels for verified updates.
