CC Resolution 1990-093#= RESOLUTION NO. 90-93
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LA QUINTA, CALIFORNIA, OPPOSING THE IMPOSITION OF
FEES FOR BOOKING PRISONERS AND OPPOSING THE ALLO-
CATION OF COUNTY PROPERTY TAX ADMINISTRATIVE COSTS
AMONG PUBLIC AGENCIES RECEIVING PROPERTY TAX PROCEEDS.
WHEREAS, The State Legislature has balanced its budget by
underfunding counties by $800 million by passing Senate Bill 2557
and has told counties to begin charging cities to book prisoners;
and to allow them to begin charging cities for property tax
administrative costs; and
WHEREAS, on December 11, 1990, the Riverside County Board
of Supervisors will be conducting a public hearing on
implementation of Resolutions 90-650 and 90-651 which will impose
a criminal 3'ustice administrative fee upon certain specified
entitiesto reimburse the County for expenses incurred with respect
to the booking of arrested persons and approving allocation of
County property tax administrative costs among public agencies
receiving property tax proceeds; and
WHEREAS, the Riverside County Auditor-Controller has
determined that these actions will result in a cost to the City of
La Quinta of $14,000 in Booking Fees"; of $5,061 in 11property Tax
Net Administration Costs" to the City and of $118,351 to the La
Quinta Redevelopment Agency.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of La Quinta, California that the City Council hereby opposes
the adoption of Resolution Nos. 90-650 and 90-651.

1990 by the following vote:
AYES: Council Members Bohnenberger, Franklin,
Rushworth, Sniff, Mayor Pena
