A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF LA QUINTA, CALIFORNIA
SUPPORTING RIVERSIDE COUNTY IN
THEIR APPLICATION FOR A FEDERAL
ENTERPRISE COMMUNITY DESIGNATION
FOR THE SOUTHERN AND EASTERN
COACHELLA VALLEY
WHEREAS, on May 3, 1994, the City of La Quinta received a request from the
Riverside County Economic Development Agency to support their application for a Federal
Enterprise Community designation; and,
WHEREAS, a portion of the City of La Quinta lays within the boundaries of the
proposed Enterprise Community; and,
WHEREAS, there are several advantages to inclusion within an Enterprise Community
including: Tax Exempt Facility Bonds, Social Service Block Grants, and special consideration
when applying for various Federal funding; and,
WHEREAS, many community service organizations and agencies currently providing
various programs and services in the proposed Enterprise Community area have offices or
facilities within the City limits of La Quinta; and,
WHEREAS, there will only be total of 30 rural" Enterprise Community designations
awarded nationwide, and community-wide support is an essential component of any application.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, DETERMINED AND ORDERED THAT
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA QUINTA, fully supports the County of
Riverside's efforts in receiving a Federal Enterprise Community designation.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED at the regular meeting of the La Quinta City
Council, held on this 17th day of May, 1994 by the following vote:
AYES: Council Members Bangerter, McCartney, Perkins, Sniff, Mayor Pena
