MINUTES
DECEMBER 4, 1995
Special meeting of the La Quinta City Council was called to order at the hour of 7:00 p.m. by
Mayor Pefia, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
PRESENT: Council Members Bangerter, Cathear:, Perkins, Sniff, Mayor Pena
ABSENT: None

ANNOUNCEMENTS None
PRESENTATIONS
Council Member Cathcart thanked the Council for auowing him the opportunity to serve the City
and advised that he would be available to do so again any time in the future.
Council Member Sniff thanked his family and the voters for re-electing him and commended
Mayor Pena and Council Member Cathcart for their service and wished them well.
Council Member Bangerter thanked her family and friends for their support advising that she
will serve to the best of her ability. She wished Mayor Pefia and Council Member Cathcart
success in their lives.
Council Member Perkins expressed his appreciation to both Mayor Pefia and Council Member
Cathcart stating that this is a much better City because of them and wished them well.
At this time, Mayor Pefia comrnented on his eleven years on the City Council thanking the
Council Members, staff and his family. He concluded in reading the poem The True
Gentleman" by John Walter Wayland.
At this time Mayor Pen-a received a standing ovation.

BUSINESS SESSION
1. CONSIDERATION OF ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION RECITING THE FACT OF
THE NOVEMBER 7, 1995 GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION, DECLARING
THE RESULTS AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS PROVIDED BY LAW.
RESOLUTION NO.95-91
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA QUINTA,
CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE FACT OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL
ELECTION HELD ON THE 7TH DAY OF NOVEMBER, 1995, DECLARING THE
RESULTS AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS PROVIDED BY LAW.
It was moved by Council Members Sniff/Cathcart that Resolution No.95-91 be adopted
as submitted. Motion carried unanimously.
SWEARING-IN OF NEWLY-ELECTED MAYOR AND COUNCIL MEMBERS
At this time, the City Clerk administered the oath of office to Mayor Bangerter, Council
Member Adolph and Council Member Sniff.
PRESENTATIONS
At this time, Mayor Bangerter presented Don Adolph with a plaque expressing the City's
appreciation for his service on the Planning Commission.
Mayor Bangerter then presented Jim Cathcart with a plaque expressing the City's appreciation
for his service on the City Council this past year.
Mayor Bangerter then presented John Pefia with a traditional tile plaque expressing the City's
appreciation for his eleven years of service on the City Council along with a plaque with a gavel
signifying his tenure as Mayor.
Council Member Sniff presented John Pefia with a plaque expressing his appreciation for his
service and his enjoyment with being colleagues during the past several years.

2. CITY COUNCIL REORGANIZATION:
2A. SELECTION OF MAYOR PRO TEM.
Mayor Bangerter declared nominations open.
Mayor Bangerter nominated Council Member Perkins for Mayor Pro Tern.
There being no further nominations, Council Member Sniff moved that nominations be
closed.
The nomination of Council Member Perkins carried unanimously.
2B. SELECTION OF REPRESENTATIVES ON VARIOUS
COMMITTEES/BOARDS.
Mr. Genovese, City Manager, asked that all staff appointments be at the discretion of the
City Manager which the Council confirmed.
The Council concurred on the following appointments:

MOTION It was moved by Council Members Sniff/Adolph to confirm the aforementioned list
of appointments. Motion carried unanimously. MINUTE ORDER NO.95-206.
Mayor Bangerter joined Mayor Pro Tern Perkins in welcoming Council Member Adolph to the
Council and Council Member Sniff in continuing to serve on the Council.
There being no further business, it was moved by Council Members Sniff/Perkins to adjourn.
