1992 11 30 CC MinutesH LA QUINTA CITY COUNCIL MINUTES NOVEMBER 30, 1992 Adjourned meeting of the La Quinta City Council was called to order by Mayor Pena. PRESENT: Councilmembers Bohnenberger, Rushworth, Sniff, Mayor Pena ABSENT: Councilmember Franklin NOTION It was moved by Councilmembers Sniff/Bohnenberger to excuse Councilmember Franklin. Motion carried unanimously. CONFIRNATION OF AGENDA Confirmed ANNOUNCEMENTS None PUBLIC COMMENT None BUSINESS SESSION 1. CONSIDERATION OF ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION RECITING THE FACT OF THE NOVEMBER 3, 1992 GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION. Mrs. Juhola advised that the Council has received a copy of the resolution reciting the fact of the November 3, 1992 election along with a copy of the certified canvass as provided by the Riverside County Registrar of Voters. She recommended that it be adopted. RESOLUTION NO. 92-94 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA QUINTA, CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE FACT OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN SAID CITY OF LA QUINTA ON THE 3RD DAY OF NOVEMBER, 1992, DECLARING THE RESULT THEREOF AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS ARE PROVIDED BY LAW. It was moved by Councilmembers Sniff/Rushworth that Resolution No. 92-94 be adopted. Motion carried unanimously. COUNCIL COMMENTS Councilmember Sniff made some comments expressing thanks and appreciation to out-going Councilmember Bohnenberger and Councilmember Rushworth. Councilmember Bohnenberger commented on the accomplishments made during the first ten years of the City and expressed appreciation to the City?s staff, present Council and past Councilmembers who have made a contribution to the City's growth. He also thanked his family. Councilmember Rushworth commended the City staff for their dedication and hard work. He also thanked all the Boards and Commissions for their hard work and all the satellite organizations the City supports. PRESENTATION OF PLAQUES Mayor Pena then presented plaques to Councilmember Bohnenberger and Councilmember Rushworth expressing appreciation for exemplary service to the City of La Quinta OATH OF OFFICE Mrs. Juhola administered the Oath of Office to Mayor Pena, Councilmember Bangerter and Councilmember Perkins. COUNCIL COMMENTS Councilmember Bangerter expressed appreciation for the community's support saying that she was humbled by the citizen's faith and trust in her by putting her in office. She was excited and enthusiastic about going to work. She expressed appreciation to the past Council and the City staff who have the best interest of the City at heart. She also thanked her husband, Mike and her family for their support. Councilmember Perkins complimented the out-going Councilmembers and the current Council and he looked forward to four very enjoyable years. He thanked everyone who supported him, especially his wife Barbara. Mayor Pena especially thanked his family, Campaign Manager Jake Wahn, his volunteers and all his supporters. He was thankful for the people of La Quinta, and thankful for living here, as the City has a great future and he felt that this City will unite and this Council will work well together. ELECTION OF MAYOR PRO TEM Mayor Pena advised that Councilmember Franklin had asked if election of the Mayor Pro Tern can be continued to December 15th. MOTION It was moved by Councilmember perkins/Bangerter that Councilmember Sniff continue as Mayor Pro Tem to December 15th. Motion carried unanimously. MINUTE ORDER NO. 92-208. COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS MOTION It was moved by Councilmembers Sniff/perkins that the committee assignments be continued to December 15, 1992. Motion carried unanimously. MINUTE ORDER NO. 92-209. It was moved by Councilmember Sniff, seconded by Mayor Pena that the meeting be adjourned. Motion carried unanimously.
