The subject of City Certification was discussed; the resolution will be p?ssed next Tuesday and will be handled by the county. After it is passed, it will be Sent to the Secretary of State. Not necessary to hand carry as previously thought.) Councilrran Henderson stated an account was opened at the Palm Spiings Saving & Loan with $500.00 put into the account. Councilman Wolf stated the fund should have an addition $1,500 that will be given to them from the Task Force. It vas also noted th?t a check for funds from the County Asses?or5 office looks proflising. CQ?nci1man Bajer has arranged for a te?ephone. There are two pu?bers now and is Set up for future extensions. e pew telephone numbers are: 340-5445 and 564-2246. The address of the La Quinta City building is: 78100 Calle Ta?pico La Quinta, California The si?n for new office building has been ordered, Councilman Baier also explained where the sign would be placed on the building. Henderson Councurnan questioned the price and as to how the city was going to pay for the Sign. Councilman Bajer stated the price was $15.00, and any other items needed would be placed for bid. The matter discussed by the Councilpersons was the expenditure of oney at this point of time. A person in the audience offered to loan the United States flag until such time a flag could be purchased. It was also brought up that the Fire Department loans flags. Councilwoman Cox will check with the Fire Department to see if they will loan the flags to the city. The main topic of discussion was the spending of money before the city can afford to do so. All council members agreed that many items would have to wait, and again suggested bids be sub- mitted for necessary items. Diseus?ion as held regarding the Inaugurat].on Day Leremonles for Saturday, May 1st. The oath of office will be administered to the Council members and a Mayor will be chosen at that time. The Tnauguration ceremonies will be held at the La Quinta Hotel with reception following. The La Quinta Sports and Youth Assoc- ation ill share the day with a full program also. It was also mot?d that the La Quint a otcl 4onatcd $1,000 to the La Quinta Sports and Youth Association. Counci?rnan Abbott stated that invitations, donated by Torn Thornberg of the Desert Club of La Quinta, will be mailed to all registered voters. The day's festivities will end at the Desert Club of La Quinta with a patio dance. Further discussion was held regarding the negotiation with Christensen. It was stated at this time that the additional charges Christensen wanted was for clerical $22.00/hour), transporation charges, material and additional money if extra time was needed. Also, he did not want the City Attorney on his payroll. The original offer price did not include any additional items.) Councilman Abbott suggested the Council not consider Christensen and it was unanii?iously agreed by all Council cmbers. Councilman Wolf is to notify Christensen of Council's decision. It was further discussed that a City Manager be hired. The meeting was adjourned at 9:50 p.m. for discussion of Personnel matters Mr. Frank Usher was interviewed by Council members. After the discussions and interview, Councilman Wolf announced that an agree- ent was reached with Mr. Usher and he had been selected as City anager.
