1982 04 30 CC Minutes% MINUTES OF MEETING LA QUINTA CITY COUNCIL APRIL 30, 1982 The meeting 0 the La Quinta City Council Elect was held at the Desert Club on April 30, 1982 at 11:06 a.m. City Council Members Elect present.. Bob Bajer Judy Cox John Henderson Fred Wolff oved by Mrs. Cox, seconded by Mr. Baier, to approve the Minutes of April 2?, 1982. unanivously adopted. The Chairman announced that Mr. Paul Goetcheus intended that his $500 donation to the City for furniture be used for the purchase of a good quality executive desk. He also mentioned his attendance at the retirement dinner for Wayne Curren. The City Manager presented a report regarding proposals for liability insurance, recommending acceptance of the proposal of the Robert F. Driver Company, Inc., as the lowest responsive proposal, in the amount of $7,024, providing $10,000,000 of liability coverage and up to $150,000 of property coverage. Mr. Abbott joined the meeting during the report and discussion. Mr. Robb Tarr of the Driver Company responded to questions. Moved by Mr. Abbott, seconded by Mr. Henderson, to accept the proposal of the Driver Company. Mr. Henderson expressed concern that the City Hall might not be worty $150,000. Mr. Tarr responded that an evaluation of the building would be made. The motion was unanimously adopted. Mr. Abbott indicated that he would like to include several congratulatory resolutions on the consent calendar of the May 1, 1982 meeting. He also indicated that he would like to include a resolution establishing a no smoking policy in City Council meetings. The City Manager reviewed changes in the resolution relating to employment of the City Manager, the order of the agenda, the time of Council study sessions, and procedure during Council meetings. The City Manager reported regarding the hiring of a secretary installation of temporary telephones, and acquisition of office furniture. The City Manager reported that the County Administrative Officer would bring the necessary oaths on aturday. Discussion followed regarding the responsibilities of the City Treasurer. Mr. Abbott reported that the following persons have made donations to the Inaugural Committee: Mr. Paul Goetcheus, $400; ivir. Ken Weise, La Quinta Liquor, $200, and Margaret Miele, Miele and Miele, Inc., $200. Mr. Henderson requested an accounting of the funds which have been donated to the Inaugural Committee. Mr. Abbott responded that he would provide the accounting. Moved by Mr. Abbott, seconded by Mr. Henderson, to adjourn. Unanimously adopted.
