May 1, 1982 8:15 a.m.
The invocation was given by Reverend W. B. Andrews.
1. CALL TO ORDER
A. The flag salute was led by Council ember Elect Ccx.
2. F?PORT OF EIECTICN RESULT?
A. r. Bob Fitch, Chief Administrative Officer, Riverside
County, presented a report regarding the Incorporation
Election for the City of La uinta, held Tuesday,
April 1?, 1982, in hich the voters approved incorporation
by a vote of 1025 in favor and 42 against, and in
hich the following persons were elected to the
first City Council: Fred Wolff, Eugene F. Abbott,
Bob Baier, John L. Henderson, and Judith A. Cox.
Mr. Fitch, introduced Wayne B. Curren, retired
Assistant Chief Administrative Officer, and
ischelle Zimmerman, with the LAFOC staff.
r. Wolff introduced Frank M. Usher, City anager,
and Raymond E. Ott, City Attorney.
OATH OF OFFICE
A. Judge Eugene Bishop administered the oath of office to
Council Members Abbott, Bajer, Ccx, Henderson, and Wolff.
4. ELECTION OF MAYOR
A. Council ember Baier nominated Council Member Wolff
for Mayor. Woved by Council Member Abbott, seconded
by Council Member Ccx, to close nominations. Unan?mously
adopted. Council Member Wolff was unanimously elected
Mayor.
5. ELECTION OF MAYOR PRO TEM
A. Council Member Henderson nominated Council ember
Baier for Mayor pro tern. Moved by Council Member
Abbott, seconded by Council Member Ccx, to close nominations.
Unanimously adopted. Council Member Baier was
unanimously elected Mayor pro tem.

ADOPTING A NO SMOKING POLICY IN THE CHAMBER, EETING
ROOMS, CR THE PUBLIC HALLS CF THE CITY COUNCIL.
Moved by Council Member Abbott, seconded by Council
Member Bajer, to adopt the proposed resolution.
Council Member Abbott spoke in favor of the resolution.
Council Member Bajer stated that his Second was for
the purpose of discussion. Discussion followed among
Council Members. Council Member Henderson expressed
his Opposition to the proposal.
