Re: Proposal for Scheduling Ave 50 Sports Complex
Dear Tom:
The Coachella Valley Recreation and Park District wishes to submit the following proposal regarding the
hedi'!inr'? epdiitility c;r.i?ed W?h th? oneration of the b?IIf.iRld lie,. tq 8t Ave 50 Sports Complex.
The District wishes to provide the same service it provides other cities within its boundaries. The District
proposes:
1. The District will pay all costs associated with the operation of the ballfield lights located at the Ave
50 Sports Complex.
2. The District will schedule all after school and weekend use of the facility.
3. The District will retain any fees generated through the scheduling of night use to off-set utility
costs.
4. The District will continue, as it has in the past, to allow La Quinta Youth Baseball Association and
La Quinta Youth Soccer Association free use of the lights.
5. The City and School District will not be charged for use of the facility other than those fees
associated with the costs of utilities.
The District hopes the City finds this proposal attractive. Its implementation would result in freeing up the
City's general funds to be used elsewhere as there would not be a need to hire additional staff, pay on a
contract with another provider for these services and pay costly electric bills.
The staff and Board of Directors of the Coachella Valley Recreation and Park District is encouraged by its
consideration to increase service to the City of La Quinta and is looking forward to future fruit bearing
endeavors.
Please contact me to discuss the specifics of this proposal at your earliest convenience.
Sincerely,
Don Marti'n
District Manager
