CC Resolution 1984-058) RESOLUTION NO. 84-58
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA QUINTA,
CALIFORNIA, PROVIDING FOR THE SUBMISSION TO THE QUALIFIED
ELECTORS OF THE CITY AT THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION OF
NOVEMBER, 1984, QUESTIONS RELATING TO ELECTIVE MAYOR.
WHEREAS, on June 19, 1984, this City Council adopted Resolution No. 84-40
calling and giving notice of the holding of a general municipal election to be
held in the City on Tuesday, November 6, 1984, for the election of certain officers
of the City; and
WHEREAS, the City Co?ncil of the City also desires to submit to the qualified
electors of the City at the election questions relating to elective Mayor;
NO?, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA QUINTA, CALIFORNIA, DOES
RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER A? FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the City Councl, pursuant to its right and authority, does
orders submitted to the qualified electors of the City at the general municipal
election the following questions:
Shall the electors elect a Mayor YES
and four city councilmembers? NO
YES
Shall the term of office of Mayor

be two year? NO
Shall the term of office of Mayor YES
be four year? NO
A mark placed in the voting square, rectangle or other specified voting space
after the words YES in the manner provided shall be counted in favor of the adoption
of the question. A mark placed in the voting square, rectangle or other specified
voting space after the word NO" in the manner provided shall be counted against the
adoption of the question. The words YES?' and NO" shall be so printed on the ballots
that the voters may express their choice. The term of office of mayor shall be that
preferred by a majority of those voting on the proposition.
SECTION 2. That the ballots to be used at the election shall be in form and
content, such as may require by law to be used at the election.
SECTION 3. That in all particulars not recited in this resolution, the election
shall be held and conducted as provided by law for holding municipal election in the
City.
SECTION 4. That the City Clerk shall certify to passage and adoption of this
Resolution and enter it into the book of original Resolutions.
