CC Resolution 1985-017+ RESOLUTION NO. 85-17
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA QUINTA,
CALIFORNIA, CALLING AND GIVING NOTICE OF THE HOLDING OF A
SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN SAID CITY ON
TUESDAY, JUNE 4, 1985, FOR THE SUBMISSION TO THE QUALIFIED
ELECTORS OF SAID CITY A PROPOSED RESOLUTION AMENDING THE
CIRCULATION ELEMENT OF THE GENERAL PLAN ADDING AN EXTENSION
OF ADAMS STREET BETWEEN AVENUE 48 AND AVENUE 52.
WHEREAS, a notice of intent to circulate an initiative petition
relative to the subject matter contained in Sections 1 and 2 hereof,
signed by Stephen Simonsen, Lawrence Cunningham, Coval Johnson and
Stanley Sniff was filed with the City on December 27, 1984, and
thereafter was withdrawn by said petitioners; and
WHEREAS, a second notice of intent to circulate an initiative
petition relative to the exact same subject matter, signed by Eleanor
L. Shive, was filed with the City on February 19, 1985; and
414.LA'REAS, in order to resolve this issue forthwith, the City
Council of the City of La Quinta desires to submit to the qualified
electors of said City at a Special Municipal Election a proposed
resolution amending the Circulation Element of the General Plan by
adding thereto an extension of Adams Street between Avenue 48 and
Avenue 52 within the City; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of said city is thereupon authorized
and directed by statute to submit the Resolution to the qualified
voters;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA QUINTA, CALIFORNIA,
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND OR?ER AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That pursuant to the requirements of the laws of the
State of California relating to General Law Cities within said State,
there shall be, and there is hereby called and ordered held in the
City of La Quinta, County of Riverside, State of California, on Tuesday,
June 4, 1985, a Special Municipal Election of the qualified electors of
said City for the purpose of submitting the following proposed resolution,
to wit:

SECTION 2. The proposed resolution submitted to the voters shall
be as follows: It is hereby resolved that the Circulation Element of the
City of La Quinta General Plan is hereby amended by adding thereto an
extension of Adams Street between Avenue 48 and Avenue 52.

+ SECTION 3. That the ballots to be used at said election shall be,
both as to form and matter contained therein, such as may be required
by law to be used thereat.
SECTION 4. That the polls for said lection shall be open at
seven o clock a.m. of the day of said election and shall remain open
continuously from said time until seven o clock p.m. of the same day
when said polls shall be closed, except as provided in Section 14301 of
the Elections Code of the State of California.
SECTION 5. That in all particulars not recited in this Resolution,
said election shall be held and conducted as provided by law for holding
municipal elections in said City.
SECTION 6. That notice of the time and place of holding said
election is hereby given and the City Clerk is hereby authorized,
instructed and directed to give such further or additional notice of
said election in time, form and manner as required by law.
SECTION 7. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and
adoption of this Resolution; shall enter the same in the book of original
Resolutions of said City; and shall make a minute of the passage and
adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings of the City Council
of said City, in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed
and adopted.
SECTION 8. That this Resolution shall take effect immediately.
