MINUTES
JANUARY 19, 1993
Regular meeting of the La Quinta Redevelopment Agency was called td
order by Chairman Pena.
PRESENT: Mrs. Bangerter, Mr. Mccartney, Mr. Perkins, Mr. Sniff,
Chairman Pena
ABSENT: None
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
MOTION It was moved by Mr. Sniff, seconded by Mrs. Bangerter that
the Minutes of January 5, 1993 be approved as submitted. Motion
carried with Mr. Mccartney abstaining.

BUSINESS SESSION
1. CONSIDERATION OF RECOMMENDATION OF SELECTION COMMITTEE
REGARDING CONSULTANTS FOR THE RDA VILLAGE PROJECT ON CITY
PROPERTY LOCATED NORTHWEST OF THE INTERSECTION OF AVENIDA
BERMUDAS AND AVENIDA MONTEZUMA.
Mr. Herman, Planning & Development Director, advised that the
Agency started a process of selecting a consultant to design
a project on the Agency?s 1.2 acres in The village at
Montezuma and Bermudas. The Board selected a committee of Mr.
Sniff and then Board Member Mrs. Franklin, Mr. Hartung and
himself to interview four firms. As a result, the Committee
is recommending American Development Consultants and Walling
& McCallum, Ltd. as the recommended consultants to proceed.
However, during that the process, the Board Members identified
some issues and concerns about proceeding as outlined in the
staff report on file in the City Clerks office.
The options before the Board at this time are: 1) schedule
interviews with the consultants; 2) table the interviews and
consultant selection until the CIP is adopted; or 3) stop the
process and identify the property as needed for further
downtown parking.
Mr. Sniff noted that as a Committee Member, there was another
firm Sanborn Webb) he liked as well as the two mentioned. He
felt the matter should be tabled until the CIP is adopted. He
also felt that there is a need to evaluate among themselves,
as to what direction the City should go with the downtown
area.

Mr. Perkins felt that the matter should be brought back within
a reasonable period of time.
Mr. Genovese noted that the Specific Plan for the downtown is
also being reviewed and suggested a continuance of about six
months.
Chairman Pena expressed appreciation to Mr. walling for his
patience during this process.
MOTION It was moved by Mr. Sniff, seconded by Mr. Perkins
that the matter of selection of a consultant for the RDA
village Project be continued for a period not to exceed six
months. Motion carried unanimously.
CONSENT CALENDAR
1. APPROVAL OF DEMAND REGISTER DATED JANUARY 19, 1993.
MOTION It was moved by Mr. Sniff, seconded by Mrs. Bangerter
that the Consent Calendar be adopted as recommended. Motion
carried unanimously.
