ORD 216ORDINANCE NO. 216
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF LA QUINTA, CALIFORNIA,
AMENDING THE LA QUINTA MUNICIPAL
CODE BY ADDING SECTION 9.224.030
RELATING TO THE FEES CHARGED FOR
NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS
CASE NO. ZONING ORDINANCE AMENDMENT 92-028
CITY OF LA QUINTA
WHEREAS, Chapter 9.216 of the La Quinta Municipal Code requires the
promoter of a minor outdoor event to obtain a permit from the City prior to conducting such
event; and
WHEREAS, the City has established a fee for the issuance of a permit for a minor
outdoor event; and
WHEREAS, nonprofit groups from time to time hold minor outdoor events within
the City of La Quinta for purposes related to the charitable, educational, cultural or other
authorized purposes of those groups; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the imposition of a permit fee on
nonprofit groups creates a burden on such groups and in some cases prevents nonprofit groups
from holding minor outdoor events; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that minor outdoor events conducted by
nonprofit groups provide cultural, educational and charitable experiences and benefits to the
people of the City; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that eliminating the minor outdoor event
permit fee for nonprofit groups would encourage such groups to conduct events of benefit to the
City.
