Flores; 12258 Eckleson, Cerritos CA 90703 Updated Description: The subject property was designed in 1956 and constructed by 1958 in the La Quinta Cove neighborhood by Walter S. White. CRM Tech described the property as a Ranch style single-family residence in 2006. Urbana staff conclude that residence more specifically displays the characteristics of a Contemporary style residential property. The residence has a medium pitched cross gable roof clad in composition shingles. The exterior of the residence is clad in stucco. The front elevation features a covered front porch supported by a stucco wall and narrow posts. There are three fixed windows at the front elevation, and an attached garage that was added after initial construction. This property was designed and constructed at the same time as the residences at 53965 Avenida Obregon and 77438 Calle Chillon. Since the previous survey, there does not appear to have been any significant alterations to the residence. Updated Significance: A prior survey evaluated the property as status code 6Z - found ineligible for NRHP, CRHR, and Local Register designation. The current survey found that the dwelling is associated with the theme of Residential Development (1934- 1970s), but it does not possess individual documented significance in relation to this theme. While the dwelling is located within the proposed La Quinta Cove Historic District, it is a non-contributor due to its architectural style and date of construction. The dwelling has not been found individually eligible under NRHP/CRHR/Local Criterion A/1/B, as it has not been associated with significant events or patterns of events in local, regional, state, or national history; not individually eligible under Criterion B/2/B, as it has not been identified as having an association with an important person; not individually eligible under Criterion C/3/C, as it does not embody the distinctive characteristics of a type, period, or method of construction, and is not a representative example of a work designed by Walter S. White; and not individually eligible under Criterion D/4/D, as further study of the dwelling would not appear to yield information which could be considered important in local, regional, state, or national history. Additionally, the property was not found to be individually eligible under Local Register Criterion A, as it was not found to exemplify a special element of the City of La Quinta. Due to the addition of the attached garage and changes to the original form of the building, the dwelling has been substantially altered and no longer maintains integrity from the historic period. Built on a concrete slab foundation, the wood-framed, irregular-shaped residence is topped by a medium- pitched, cross-gabled roof covered with brown composition shingles, and narrow, boxed eaves shelter walls sheathed in stucco.
