51296 Guatemala (Calle) DPR 523L (09/2013) Identifier: CRM TECH 1885-144 Date Constructed: 1950 UTM Zone: 11S, 565098 mE / 3726268 mN Neighborhood: Avenida La Fonda Tract: Desert Club TR Unit No 2; Recorded September 30, 1941, MB 20/6 Owner and Address: Shirley M Johnson; 45800 Apache Road, Indian Wells CA 92210 Updated Description: The 51296 Calle Guatemala single-family residence was constructed in 1950 in the Desert Club neighborhood. CRM Tech described the property as a one-story Spanish-influenced style single-family residence in 2006. Urbana staff conclude that residence more specifically displays the characteristics of a Spanish Styled Ranch home. This one-story residence faces east from the west side of Calle Guatamala. The rectangular building is wood-framed and is topped with a low-pitched, side- gabled roof covered with red clay tiles. Moderate, open eaves sit above walls clad in stucco, and fenestration consists of steel- framed, multi-paned fixed and casement windows; a tripartite assemblage is found on the façade. An entry porch supported by two thin, wood posts is centered on the asymmetrical front façade, and an attached garage may have been converted to living space on the southernmost end of the west elevation. Updated Significance: A prior survey evaluated the property as status code 6Z - found ineligible for NRHP, CRHR, and Local Register designation. The current survey found that the dwelling is associated with the theme of Residential Development (1934- 1970s), but it does not possess individual documented significance in relation to this theme. The dwelling has not been found individually eligible under NRHP/CRHR/Local Criterion A/1/B, as it has not been associated with significant events or patterns of events in local, regional, state, or national history; not individually eligible Criterion B/2/B, as it has not been identified as having an association with an important person; not individually eligible under Criterion C/3/C, as it does not embody the distinctive characteristics of a type, period, or method of construction; and not individually eligible under Criterion D/4/D, as further study of the dwelling would not appear to yield information which could be considered important in local, regional, state, or national history. Additionally, the property was not found to be individually eligible under Local Register Criterion A, as it was not found to exemplify a special element of the City of La Quinta. As the dwelling does not appear to have been substantially altered besides this possible addition, this dwelling maintains integrity from the historic period.
