51228 Hueneme (Calle) DPR 523L (09/2013) Identifier: CRM TECH 1885-148 Date Constructed: 1949 UTM Zone: 11S, 565078 mE / 3726340 mN Neighborhood: Avenida La Fonda Tract: Desert Club TR Unit No 2; Recorded September 30, 1941, MB 20/6 Owner and Address: Otis J Thompson; 43422 Burr Street, Indio CA 92201 Updated Description: The 51228 Calle Hueneme single-family residence was constructed in 1959 in the Desert Club neighborhood. CRM Tech described the property as a one-story Modern style building in 2006. Urbana staff conclude that residence more specifically displays the characteristics of a Ranch home with Contemporary elements. The one- story, single-family residence faces west from the east side of Calle Hueneme. The wood- framed, rectangular residence is topped with a low-pitched, shed roof, and wide, open, stuccoed eaves above walls clad in stucco. Fenestration consists of steel-framed windows of multi-paned, fixed and casement sash, and an open, dropped veranda supported by thin, square wood posts partially covers the asymmetrical front façade. Updated Significance: A prior survey evaluated the property as status code 6Z - found ineligible for NRHP, CRHR, and Local Register designation. The current survey found that the dwelling is associated with the theme of Residential Development (1934- 1970s), but it does not possess individual documented significance in relation to this theme. The dwelling has not been found individually eligible under NRHP/CRHR/Local Criterion A/1/B, as it has not been associated with significant events or patterns of events in local, regional, state, or national history; not individually eligible Criterion B/2/B, as it has not been identified as having an association with an important person; not individually eligible under Criterion C/3/C, as it does not embody the distinctive characteristics of a type, period, or method of construction; and not individually eligible under Criterion D/4/D, as further study of the dwelling would not appear to yield information which could be considered important in local, regional, state, or national history. Additionally, the property was not found to be individually eligible under Local Register Criterion A, as it was not found to exemplify a special element of the City of La Quinta. As the dwelling has not been substantially altered, this dwelling maintains integrity from the historic period.
