46365 Cameo Palms Drive DPR 523L (09/2013) Identifier: CRM TECH 1885-159 Date Constructed: 1961 UTM Zone: 11S, 565314 mE / 3730198 mN Neighborhood: Highland Palms Tract: TR 02043; Recorded September 30, 1960, MB 41/7 Owner and Address: Roman Catholic Bishop of SB; 1201 E Highland Avenue, San Bernardino CA 92404 Updated Description: The 46365 Cameo Palms Drive residence was constructed in 1961 in the Highland Palms neighborhood. CRM Tech described the property as a Ranch style single-family residence in 2006. Urbana staff conclude that residence more specifically displays the characteristics of a Tract Ranch style residential property with Custom elements built by the Macco Corporation. The one-story single-family residence with attached garage faces east from the west side of Cameo Palms Drive. The dwelling has an asymmetrical facade and a mostly rectilinear floorplan atop a concrete foundation. The low-pitched hipped roof is topped with composite shingles and has a moderate eave overhang, boxed eaves, and an eyebrow visible from the main (east) elevation. The exterior is clad in stucco painted in white with a partial stone veneer on the east elevation. The recessed main entryway is located beneath the main roofline and features a brick paver path, metal security door, and a square fixed vinyl window. The fenestration throughout the property consists of aluminum and vinyl sliding sash windows. The attached garage is appended to the east elevation and features a wood panel overhead door that faces north. There do not appear to be any significant alterations since the prior survey apart from an aluminum sliding sash window located besides the main entryway that was replaced with a vinyl fixed window unit. Updated Significance: A prior survey evaluated the property as status code 6Z - found ineligible for NRHP, CRHR, and Local Register designation. The current survey found that the dwelling is associated with the theme of Residential Development (1934- 1970s), but it does not possess individual documented significance in relation to this theme. It was one of the earliest homes built within the Highland Palms residential subdivision by the Macco Corporation, but the subdivision is not proposed as a historic district. The dwelling has not been found individually eligible under NRHP/CRHR/Local Criterion A/1/B, as it has not been associated with significant events or patterns of events in local, regional, state, or national history; not individually eligible Criterion B/2/B, as it has not been identified as having an association with an important person; not individually eligible under Criterion C/3/C, as it does not embody the distinctive characteristics of a type, period, or method of construction; and not individually eligible under Criterion D/4/D, as further study of the dwelling would not appear to yield information which could be considered important in local, regional, state, or national history. Additionally, the property was not found to be individually eligible under Local Register Criterion A, as it was not found to exemplify a special element of the City of La Quinta. As the dwelling has not been substantially altered, this dwelling maintains integrity from the historic period.
