Updated Description: The 51333 Avenida Ramirez residence was constructed in 1937 in the La Quinta Cove neighborhood. The
residence is a single family home constructed in the Spanish Colonial Revival style. The residence has an "I" shaped form with a low-
pitched cross gable roof clad in red tiles. The exterior is clad in stucco. At the front elevation there is one sash window and two metal
sliding windows. In 2022, the subject property is surrounded by a large privacy wall. Based on what is visible, there does not appear
to have been any significant alterations. The roof appears to have the same cross gable form, clad in red tile.
Updated Significance: This dwelling is a contributor to the La Quinta Cove Thematic Historic District which is considered eligible
under Local Criterion B (events) for its association with the Residential Development theme. The Cove district is also considered
eligible under Local Register Criterion A (special element) as the first residential subdivision within the boundaries of the city
constructed with Spanish Revival style homes and eligible under Local Register Criterion E as a geographically definable area
possessing a concentration of buildings, structures, and improvements linked historically. Pending additional in-person evaluation,
the dwelling may retain a sufficient level of integrity from the 1935 to 1950 period of significance for individual designation. The
district is not formally designated, and the property is assigned a 5B status code: Locally significant both individually (listed, eligible,
or appears eligible) and as contributor to a multi-component resource like a district that is locally listed, designated, determined
eligible, or appears eligible through survey evaluation.
The dwelling has not been found individually eligible under NRHP/CRHR/Local Criterion A/1/B, as it has not been associated with
significant events or patterns of events in local, regional, state, or national history; not individually eligible under Criterion B/2/B, as it
has not been identified as having an association with an important person; and not individually eligible under Criterion D/4/D, as
further study of the dwelling would not appear to yield information which could be considered important in local, regional, state, or
national history. Additionally, the property was not found to be individually eligible under Local Register Criterion A, as it was not
found to exemplify a special element of the City of La Quinta.
This property appears to individually embody the distinctive characteristics of a Spanish Colonial Revival style “casita” bungalow
built in the Cove during the 1930s and, pending additional in-person observation, may be considered individually significant under
Local Criterion C for embodying the distinctive characteristics of a type, period, or method of construction. Due to limited visibility
during the current survey, the integrity of the dwelling could not be determined.

Another example of "I" shaped Spanish Colonial Revival ranch house in The Cove. Appears to have a small
addition toward back with shed roof of clay tiles and a large plate glass window. All walls are stuccoed. The
original building has a low-pitched red tile roof, with stained vertical wood siding within the gables. One sash
window remains at right wings, but at center is a newer, large metal sliding window and a newer, small metal
sash window, both of which take the place of a former pair of sash windows. To the right is the door, which
appears to be original behind a newer screen door. Original wood garage doors with upper vents are still in
place in wing. Characteristic of these houses is the central open "court" at front, with only one small
projecting wall (from the garage side) to slightly enclose it; bushes hide this feature. The newer metal or
aluminum windows, and an aluminum awning that partially covers the "court", in general detract from the
court and house. An interesting short wall of large rocks defines property boundaries, but rustic and historic
appearance is marred by high chain link fence placed directly next to the rocks and surrounding house. Eclectic
vegetation includes palm trees, desert agave, cedar bush, grass.
