53133 Rubio (Avenida) DPR 523L (09/2013) Identifier: CRM TECH 1885-99 Date Constructed: 1960 UTM Zone: 11S, 563590 mE / 3724748 mN Neighborhood: The Cove Tract: Santa Carmelita Unit No 18; Recorded October 31, 1937, MB 19/31 Owner and Address: Mayely N Mejia; 53133 Avenida Rubio, La Quinta CA 92253 Updated Description: The subject property was constructed in 1960 in the La Quinta Cove neighborhood. CRM Tech described the property as a Modern style single-family residence in 2006. Urbana staff conclude that residence more specifically displays the characteristics of a Tract Ranch style residential property. The dwelling with a low pitch, nearly flat, side gable roof with open eaves. The exterior is clad in stucco. Since the previous survey, the windows appear to have been replaced with vinyl horizontal sliding windows. The security bars have been removed and the residence has been painted. The decorative concrete block wall has been removed. Updated Significance: A prior survey evaluated the property as status code 6Z - found ineligible for NRHP, CRHR, and Local Register designation. The current survey found that the dwelling is associated with the theme of Residential Development (1934- 1970s), but it does not possess individual documented significance in relation to this theme. While the dwelling is located within the proposed La Quinta Cove Historic District, it is a non-contributor due to its architectural style and date of construction. The dwelling has not been found individually eligible under NRHP/CRHR/Local Criterion A/1/B, as it has not been associated with significant events or patterns of events in local, regional, state, or national history; not individually eligible Criterion B/2/B, as it has not been identified as having an association with an important person; not individually eligible under Criterion C/3/C, as it does not embody the distinctive characteristics of a type, period, or method of construction; and not individually eligible under Criterion D/4/D, as further study of the dwelling would not appear to yield information which could be considered important in local, regional, state, or national history. Additionally, the property was not found to be individually eligible under Local Register Criterion A, as it was not found to exemplify a special element of the City of La Quinta. The dwelling has been altered with the replacement of windows and the removal of window grating, however, this dwelling maintains moderate integrity from the historic period.
