Updated Description: The 51095 Avenida Vallejo residence was constructed in 1936 in the La Quinta Cove neighborhood. The
previous survey described the residence as a Spanish Colonial Revival home with an "I" shaped form. The residence was described as
having a low-pitched red tile gable roof and stucco walls. The home had a wood sash window at the front elevation, a front open
courtyard, and a short chimney at the rear of the building. Since the previous survey, the subject property has been surrounded by a
large privacy wall. The residence is not visible from the public right-of-way.
Updated Significance: This dwelling is a contributor to the La Quinta Cove Thematic Historic District which is considered eligible
under Local Criterion B (events) for its association with the Residential Development theme. The Cove district is also considered
eligible under Local Register Criterion A (special element) as the first residential subdivision within the boundaries of the city
constructed with Spanish Revival style homes and eligible under Local Register Criterion E as a geographically definable area
possessing a concentration of buildings, structures, and improvements linked historically. Pending additional in-person evaluation,
the dwelling may retain a sufficient level of integrity from the 1935 to 1950 period of significance for individual designation. The
district is not formally designated, and the property is assigned a 5B status code: Locally significant both individually (listed, eligible,
or appears eligible) and as contributor to a multi-component resource like a district that is locally listed, designated, determined
eligible, or appears eligible through survey evaluation.
The dwelling has not been found individually eligible under NRHP/CRHR/Local Criterion A/1/B, as it has not been associated with
significant events or patterns of events in local, regional, state, or national history; not individually eligible under Criterion B/2/B, as it
has not been identified as having an association with an important person; and not individually eligible under Criterion D/4/D, as
further study of the dwelling would not appear to yield information which could be considered important in local, regional, state, or
national history. Additionally, the property was not found to be individually eligible under Local Register Criterion A, as it was not
found to exemplify a special element of the City of La Quinta.
This property appears to individually embody the distinctive characteristics of a Spanish Colonial Revival style “casita” bungalow
built in the Cove during the 1930s and, pending additional in-person observation, may be considered individually significant under
Local Criterion C for embodying the distinctive characteristics of a type, period, or method of construction. Due to limited visibility
during the current survey, the integrity of the dwelling could not be determined.

A wood plank fence with periodic stucco box columns surrounds this 1936 Spanish Colonial Revival house in
The Cove. The one-story "I" shaped building has a very low-pitched red tile gable roof and stucco walls. An
original wood sash window is centered in the visible wing. Characteristic of these houses is a central open
"court" at front. A short chimney projects from back of house. Mature landscaping including trees and bushes
surrounds the house.
