Public Notices
The La Quinta City Council Chamber is handicapped accessible. If special equipment is
needed for the hearing impaired, please call the City Clerk’s Office at 777-7103, twenty-
four (24) hours in advance of the meeting and accommodations will be made.
If special electronic equipment is needed to make presentations to the Housing Authority,
arrangement should be made in advance by contacting the City Clerk's Office at 777-7103.
A one (1) week notice is required.
If background material is to be presented to the Housing Authority during a meeting,
please be advised that eight (8) copies of all documents, exhibits, etc., must be supplied to
the City Clerk for distribution. It is requested that this take place prior to the beginning of
the meeting.
Any writings or documents provided to a majority of the Housing Authority regarding any
item on this agenda will be made available for public inspection at the City Clerk counter
at City Hall located at 78-495 Calle Tampico, La Quinta, California, 92253, during normal

STAFF REPORT
AGENDA TITLE: INTERVIEW AND APPOINT ONE MEMBER TO THE HOUSING COMMISSION
RECOMMENDATION
Interview and appoint one member to the Housing Commission.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
When founding the Housing Authority (Authority), the City established a Housing
Commission.
A resident-tenant recently resigned and the City advertised to fill this position; one
application was submitted.
The Authority Board will interview this candidate and if a majority of the members
agree, appoint this applicant.
FISCAL IMPACT
Council approved $50 per member, per meeting (maximum $50 a month) for the
Housing Commission in the 2017/18 Budget.
BACKGROUND/ANALYSIS
The City established the La Quinta Housing Authority in 2009 to own and manage the
affordable rental dwellings purchased by the former La Quinta Redevelopment Agency.
The State law that governs the Authority requires a Housing Commission comprised of
tenants that dwell in Authority properties and community members. A vacancy recently
occurred due to the resignation of a Commissioner who was the tenant age 62+ position
and resides in an Authority dwelling.
The City advertised for this position and the applicants from the last round of
appointments not seated, were e-mailed and invited to reapply. One eligible application
was received from Gwendolyn Davidson.
ALTERNATIVES
Fill the vacancy or do not fill the vacancy, and re-advertise.
