Box-3166--- Palm ox_31.66__Palm Desert, CA 92261 SUBJECT: Minor Use Permit 99-182 (Salomon Smith Barney) Dear Ms. Balchan, FILE COPY (760) 777-7000 (TDD) (760) 777-1227 The Community Development Department has approved your request to install a 100' by 180' tent for a special event at the La Quinta Resort and Club between January 8 to 16, 2000, pursuant to Section 9.60.170 (Special Outdoor Events) of the Zoning Code. The approval is subject to the following conditions: Conditions to be met by December 28, 1999: Submit proof of liability insurance in the amount of $1,000,000. The insurance certificate shall name the City and its employees as additional insured. 2. Permits for temporary structures and/or electric hookups and facilities shall be obtained from the Building and Safety Department prior to installation. 3. A permit from the Fire Marshal for the tent or any open flame devises and stages, etc. shall be obtained prior to tent installation. Fire lanes shall be established and maintained during the event. Contact the Fire Department personnel at 863-8866. 4. Commercial food, beverage, retail, and service vendors shall have a permit to operate from the Riverside County Health Department, Business License Department of the City of La Quinta, and other public agencies, as needed. Additional operational conditions for the event are: 5. The outdoor event may be held January 8 to 16, 2000, with set-up starting January 5, and take-down on January 17, 2000. The tent location is to be in the parking lot immediately south of Avenida Fernando. 6. The site shall be left clean of any litter at the close of the event. c:Utr app mup 99-182.wpd 7. If underground excavation is required, please contact Underground Service Alert (USA) at 1(800) 422-4133. The service is free of charge provided USA is given at least two days notice. Before any cranes, forklifts, or other aerial equipment is raised, please check for existing overhead wires. 8.. Temporary advertising signs are prohibited unless approved by this Department, or allowed by the Zoning Code. 9. Any off-site bus parking shall comply with City and Traffic Code requirements. 10. The event organizer. agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless, the City of La Quinta in the event of any legal claim or litigation arising out of the City approval of this event. The City of La Quinta shall have the right to select its defense counsel at its sole discretion. 11. All temporary lighting shall be shielded and down shining, and be directed away from traffic and adjacent residences. 12. A minimum of seven days prior to the beginning of the .event, the adjacent homeowners to the north across Avenida Fernando and all adjoining Homeowners Associations shall be notified in writing of the event, its activities and duration. 13. The City may impose additional conditions, or revoke this permit if any problems arise during the event that needs special attention or consideration. This decision may be appealed to the Planning Commission provided the written appeal and filing fee of $175.00 are submitted to this Department within 15 calendar days. The notification letter shall state that such approvals have been received, or that no land use approvals are required. As set forth in GO 159-A, copies of the notification letter are required to be served concurrently by mail on the local governmental agency.
