The Community Development Department has approved your request to install a 100'
by 100' tent and a 20' X 20 kitchen canopy for a special event at the Quarry at La
Quinta on April 23, 2004, pursuant to Section 9.60.170 (Special Outdoor Events) of the
Zoning Code. The approval is subject to the following conditions:
Conditions to be met by April 9, 2004:
Permits for temporary structures and/or electric hookups and facilities shall be
obtained from the Building and Safety Department prior to installation.
2. A permit from the Fire Marshal for the tent or any open flame devises and stages,
etc. shall be obtained prior to tent installation and all requirements shall be met.
Fire lanes shall be established and maintained during the event. Contact the Fire
Department personnel at 863-8866. (This condition has been addressed by the
Fire Department and approval has been granted subject to conditions.)
3. Commercial food, beverage, retail, and service vendors shall have a permit to
operate from the Riverside County Health Department, Business License
Department of the City of La Quinta, and other public agencies, as needed.
Additional operational conditions for the event are:
4. The outdoor event may be held April 23, 2004, with set-up starting April 21, and
take-down by April 24, 2004. The tent location is to be on lots 39 and 66.
5. The site shall be left clean of any litter at the close of the event.
6. If underground excavation is required, please contact Underground Service Alert
(USA) at 1 (800) 422-4133. The service is free of charge provided USA is given
at least two days notice. Before any cranes, forklifts, or other aerial equipment
is raised, please check for existing overhead wires.

7. Temporary advertising signs are prohibited unless approved by this Department,
or allowed by the Zoning .Code.
8. Any off-site bus parking shall comply with City and Traffic Code requirements.
9. By accepting this permit, the event organizer agrees to indemnify, defend, and
hold harmless, the City of La Quinta in the event of any legal claim or litigation
arising out of the City approval of this event. The City of La Quinta shall have the
right to select its defense counsel at its sole discretion.
10. All temporary lighting shall be shielded and down shining, and be directed away
from traffic and adjacent residences.
11. The .City may impose additional conditions, or revoke this permit if any problems
arise during the event that needs special attention or consideration.
This decision may be appealed to the Planning Commission provided the written appeal.
and filing fee of $175.00 are submitted to this Department within 15 calendar- days.
