Planned Sign Program for the Radio Active Building
(As approved by the Planning Commission on February 22, 2005
under Minute Motion 2005-003)
This scope of this Sign Program is to design and build independent sign
elements combined in a manner to function as a unified system of signs.
The design intention of the sign system is to collectively direct, inform,
regulate and identify, thereby enhancing the project's form and function.
The intent is to provide Radio Active, the major tenant, sign visibility on
three different facades. Two smaller tenants (Desert Life Styles & Future
Tenant) will have one sign each but be smaller in size. The locations of all
signs are as shown on the elevations. The standards shall be as follows:
A. RADIO ACTIVE
The. Radio Active building is restricted to a maximum of three signs (north,
south and east facades only), as follows:
North -facing Sign:
Lighting: Internally illuminated.
Letter Type and Colors: Channel letters bolted to fascia, no exposed
transformer or raceway; red and black plexi -glass with a '/4" white outline.
Letter Size: Fifteen (15) inches in height.
Sign Area: Twenty-five (25) square feet maximum.
Location:. As shown on elevations.
South -facing Sign:
Lighting: Internally illuminated.
Letter Type and Colors: Channel letters bolted to fascia, no exposed
transformer or raceway; red and black plexi -glass with a ''/4" white outline.
Letter Size: Fifteen (15) inches'', in height.
Sign Area: Twenty-five (25) square feet maximum.
Location: As shown on elevations.
East -facing Sign:
Lighting: Internally illuminated.'
Letter Type and Colors: Channel letters bolted to fascia, no exposed
transformer or raceway; red and black plexi -glass with a '/a" white outline.
Letter Size: Fifteen (15) inches', in height.
Sign Area: Twenty-five (25) square feet maximum.
Location: As shown on elevations.
B. DESERT LIFE STYLES
The Desert Life Styles business is restricted to a maximum of one sign (east
facade only), as follows:
East -facing Sign:
Lighting: Internally illuminated.
Letter Type and Colors: Channel letters bolted to fascia, no exposed
raceway; orange, yellow and black plexi -glass only with no outline. "Design
Center" to be non -illuminated and painted black.
Letter Size: Ten (10) inches in height.
Sign Area: Seventeen (17) square feet maximum.
Location: As shown on elevations.

The Future Tenant business is restricted to a maximum of one sign (north
facade only), as follows:
North -facing Sign:
Lighting: Internally illuminated.
Letter Type and Colors: Channel letters bolted to fascia, no exposed
raceway. Colors to be determined when tenant submits application for the
sign.
Letter Size: Ten 00) inches in height.
Sign Area: Seventeen (17) square feet maximum.
Location: As shown on elevations.
Note: Any changes to these signs shall be done administratively by the
Community Development Department as long as they follow the standards
listed above. However, additional sign area, additional numbers of signs,
alternative sign locations, alternative type of signs, new illumination or
additional height in signs shall be processed as a Sign Program Amendment
and reviewed by the Planning Commission as a Business Item for approval or
denial.
CONDITIONS OF APPROVAL:
1. The signs shall be in conformance with the approved exhibits contained
in SignApplication 2005-851, unless otherwise amended by the
following conditions.
2. Obtain a building permit from the Building & Safety Department prior to
installation of each sign.
3. The returns on the signs shall be painted to match the building colors.
4. The sign permit shall expire one year from the effective date, unless a
Building Permit is issued for the installation of the signs.
5. Any changes to this approved Planned Sign Program requires review
and approval by the Planning Commission.
6. The applicant/property owner agrees to defend, indemnify, and hold
harmless the City of La Quinta (the "City"), its agents, officers and
employees from any claim, or litigation arising out of the City's approval
of this project. This indemnification shall include any award toward
attorney's fees. The City of La Quinta shall have the right to select its
defense counsel in its sole discretion.
