Dear Ms. Ziolkowski:
The Coachella Valley Water District (CVWD) operates and maintains several regional flood control
0 facilities within the County of Riverside, California. As identified by the Federal Emergency
Management Agency (FEMA) on Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMS), there are 20 levee systems
0 that fall under the jurisdiction of CVWD (see Exhibit A -CV WD Levee Status Table). These levees
provide flood protection to the residents of Cathedral City, Coachella, Indian Wells, Indio, La Quinta,
Palm Desert, and Rancho Mirage.
CVWD is confident that all the levees noted on the FIRMS will provide adequate protection in the
® event of a 100-year storm event. Therefore, the District is submitting to FEMA the PAL Agreements
for all cities noted above.
CVWD is also submitting its approved General Procedures for Operation and Maintenance of
Stormwater Facilities. CVWD jurisdictional levees have been inspected on an annual basis and after
significant storm and seismic events since their construction. No levee deficiencies have been found
that required maintenance or repairs and therefore no repair records are being submitted with the
PAL Agreement.
CVWD looks forward to working with FEMA to complete the Levee Certification Program. Should
