ORD 443 ORDINANCE NO. 443 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LA GUINTA. CALIFORNIA. ADDING SUBSECTION 12.69 TO CHAPTER ( 12 OF THE LA GUINTA MUNICIPAL CODE. Chapter 12 of the L~Qul ta Municipal Code is hereby amended to add Subsection 12.69, to re~lIows: 12.69.010 Purpose an~ The Californ' ~ ~s and Highways Code, Sections 1950 through 1961, authorize local ju di~~to establish Golf Cart Transportation Plans within their boundaries, u tain conditions and with certain requirements. The City has established t art Transportation Plan in its General Plan, and intends, by the addi . n Subsection of the Municipal Code, to establish standards, reqUir~ a d procedures for the implementation of the Golf Cart Transportation Plan. ~.o 0 Definitions ~ used in this Chapter, the following words and phrases shall have the following ~aning: "City" means the City of La Quinta. "Golf Cart" means a four wheeled electric powered motor vehicle with an unladen weight of less than one thousand three hundred pounds, which is designed to be, ( and is operated at not more than twenty miles per hour, and is designed to car golf equipment and no more than four persons, including the driver. golf cart travel, including roadways. Class III golf cart routes provide for sharen~ ith automobile and bicycle traffic. Golf cart operators must be licensed drivers in the State ~I rnia with valid California driver's license, or a driver's license iss~n er state. 2. Golf cart operators must comply with the fi esponsibility requirements established pursuant to Chapter 1~m ing with Section 16000) of Division 7 of the California Vehicle Co . 3. Golf cart operators must maintain golf cart in~o ition. 4. Golf carts are limited to daytime operatio~ t permitted before one hour prior to sunrise or after one hour afte s s . 5.
