ORD 023 ORDINANCE NO. 23
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF LA QUINTA, CALIFORNIA, DETERMINING, PURSUANT
TO GOVERNMENT CODE SECTION 36503.5, THAT GENERAL
MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS IN THE CITY SHALL BE HELD ON
THE SAME DAY AS STATEWIDE GENERAL ELECTIONS.
The city council of the City of La Quinta, California, does ordain
as follows:
SECTION 1. Pursuant to the authority granted by Government Code
Section 36503.5, general municipal elections in the City shall be
held on the same day as statewide general elections held in November
of even-numbered years.
SECTION 2. The first statewide general election to which this
ordinance shall apply is one to be held in the year Nineteen Hundred
Eighty-Four (1984).
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall become operative upon the
approval of the Board of Supervisors of the County of Riverside.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall within 15 days after passage
of this ordinance, cause it to be posted in at least the 3 public
places designated by resolution of the City Council; shall certify
to the adoption and posting of this ordinance; and shall cause this
ordinance and its certification, together with proof of posting, to
be entered in the book of ordinances of this City.
The foregoing ordinance was approved and adopted at a meeting
of the City Council held on January 4th , 1983, by the
following vote:
AYES: Council Members Allen, Baier, Cox, Henderson and Mayor Wolff.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.

ordinance was posted in three (3) places within the City of
