Dear Scott:
The City of Indian Wells Is excited about the partnership that has been brought together
to secure Ironman 70.3 Indian Wells/La Qulnta for December of 2018, 2019 and 2020.
With the combined collaboration of the two cities and the Greater Palm Springs
Convention & Visitors Bureau ("Bureau"), the City anticipates a significant Impact of
athletes and their families during a good tourism "need" time in the valley.
The City of Indian Wells has entered into a three -party sponsorship agreement with
Ironman and the City of La Qulnta,
This letter is to confirm that the City of Indian Wells will invoice the Bureau for the
Bureau's agreed partnership contribution/payment of $75,000 ("Funds"). The Funds will
be paid in two (2) equal installments, The first such installment shall be In July of 2018.
The second installment shall be paid in September of 2018. In future years (excluding the
2018 event) if the event experiences an economic downturn, which shall be determined
at Bureau's sole and absolute discretion, the Bureau may reduce Its contribution amount
to an amount to be determined at Bureau's sole and absolute discretion, including the
option to make no contribution. In the event the Ironman event is cancelled, Bureau shall
make no contribution and any amounts paid by Bureau shall be promptly returned to
Bureau. Upon payment of Funds, the City of Indian Wells will then directly pay or forward
to Ironman, the Indian Wells Tennis Garden and the County of Riverside the estimated
dollars outlined below.
Sponsorships:
City of La Qulnta Sponsorship $ 75,000
CVB Sponsorship $ 75,000
City of Indian Wells Sponsorship $ 75,000
Total Sponsorships: 225,000
Ironman Sponsorship Fee: $ 180,000
Indian Wells Tennis Garden $ 25,000
Lake Cahuilla (County of Riverside) $ 20,000
Total Costs:
$ 225,000
If you need any further clarification or details, attached Is the City's staff report
approved by the Indian Wells City Council.
If the foregoing is not deemed to be accurate by the Bureau, please notify me as soon as
possible so that is can be resolved. Otherwise, the City looks forward to receipt of the
Bureau's payment
