GONSALVES & SON ("CONSULTANT"). This Amendment No. 1 to Professional Services Agreement with JOE A. GONSALVES & SON ("Consultant") ("Amendment No. 1") is made and entered into as of the first day of July, 2016 ("Effective Date") by and between the CITY OF LA QUINTA ("City"), a California municipal corporation and JOE A. GONSALVES & SON, a [Corporation] ("Consultant"). RECITALS WHEREAS, on or about October 21, 2015, the City and Consultant entered into a Professional Services Agreement to provide those services related to government relations and lobbyist services for the City. For purposes of this Agreement, the phrase "highest professional standards" shall mean those standards of practice recognized by one or more first-class firms performing similar services under similar circumstances. 2. Services to be Provided: • Act as the City's official legislative advocate with the California State Legislature and State Agencies • Develop, coordinate and implement a government relations strategy subject to approval by the City and assist with special projects • Review all bills introduced to the California Legislature and inform the City of all such legislation affecting its interests and forward weekly a report to the City • Assist in identifying and obtaining state funding available for City programs and proposed capital projects • Provide a monthly written summary during the legislative session and at other times if significant activity warrants it • Provide bi-weekly conference calls during the legislative session and at other times if significant activity warrants it • Assist City in development and execution of appropriate documents, grants and other funding application requirements. • Arrange meetings with the legislative representatives for both City elected officials and staff when necessary • Initiate legislative proposals on behalf of the City • Attend and provide testimony on behalf of the City in legislative hearings • Prepare all necessary documents for State compliance for these services. • As identified in the City of La Quints Legislative Strategy 2016 document incorporated hereinto Exhibit A The location of work will be La Quinta, Sacramento and throughout the State of California. Rev.2-5-14 Exhibit B With the exception of compensation, Additional Services provided for in Section 2.3 of this Agreement, the maximum total compensation to be paid to Consultant under this Agreement in Fiscal Year 2016/17 is forty-two thousand Dollars ($42,000) ("Contract Sum"). The Contract Sum shall be paid to Consultant in installment payments made on a monthly basis and in an amount identified in Consultant's schedule of compensation attached hereto for the work tasks performed and properly invoiced by Consultant in conformance with Section 2.2 of this Agreement.
