Voter Assistance Centers are different than the in-person voting options used in Riverside County for prior elections. A voter can go to any one of these locations and receive their specific ballot, rather than just their neighborhood polling place. These centers will be open for several days leading up to Election Day to give voters who choose to vote in- person the flexibility to cast their ballot at their convenience. This change has come about in response to concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic and the county’s desire to balance safety and good public health practices with giving all residents the chance to exercise their right to vote. As a result, the Riverside County Registrar of Voters plans to adhere to the strictest cleanliness and public health standards when it comes to cleaning equipment upon use, social distancing for voting equipment and staff training. Riverside County decided to establish these centers in compliance with the Governor’s June 3, 2020 Executive Order which says that counties must provide in-person voting opportunities. We have identified your site for a potential center because it meets our needs for size, accessibility, public access and because of our good working relationship from previous elections as we try to meet this new state mandate.
