2020 LQ Mayor - Letters of Support - Avenue 48 Art & Music Line Project August 31, 2020 Caltrans Division of Local Assistance 1120 N Street, MS 1 Attention: Office of State Programs Sacramento, CA 95814 Subject: Coachella Valley Association of Governments – Art & Music Line Project To Whom It May Concern: As Mayor of the City of La Quinta, and on behalf of the City Council, I am happy to support and partner with the Coachella Valley Association of Governments (CVAG) on their Application to the Cycle 5 Active Transportation Program for the Arts & Music Line project. The project will transform Avenue 48, a busy traffic corridor that travels through the cities of La Quinta, Indio, and Coachella; to an interactive roadway that will provide up to ten miles of bicycle pathways for residents, visitors, and students. The project will integrate beautiful art and music themes developed by our very own student community, helping to create a more aesthetically pleasing environment along a busy and high traffic roadway, in a safer manner of travel. Since 2015, the City of La Quinta has worked with CVAG to identify connectors and conduct community outreach to help design a project that will service our residents and visitors with safer routes to walk or bike around town. La Quinta is home to popular resorts, world-class golf courses, and casual, yet active living. Each year, visitors flock to our city to enjoy arts and the outdoors, visit renowned art shows, and take leisure walks along remarkable hiking trails. This project is another component to the lifestyle we embrace with health, physical activity, and clean air as a priority. We support the development of alternative transportation routes that provide more opportunities for people to get out of their cars and walk and bike around our city. The City of La Quinta agrees to assume responsibility for the ongoing operations and maintenance of the improved facility within our city limits. We look forward to your favorable consideration of this project and to fund the Arts & Music Line project. Thank you. Sincerely, Linda Evans, Mayor City of La Quinta taa(.1'\1 "/ th, NN:kl - June 27, 2018 Caltrans Division of Local Assistance 1120 N Street, MS 1 Attention: Office of State Programs Sacramento, CA 95814 Subject: Coachella Valley Association of Governments — Arts & Music Line Project To Whom It May Concern: As Mayor of the City of La Quinta, I am happy to support and partner with Coachella Valley Association of Governments (CVAG) on their application to the Cycle 4 Active Transportation Program for the Arts & Music Line project.
