The following shall be considered as incorporated into the project plans and specifications for the
above referenced project. Portions of plans and specifications not specifically mentioned in this
Addendum remain in force.

A. Hours of operation are Monday - Thursday 7:30 am to 5:30 pm and
Fridays 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The Good Faith Effort shall be submitted
by the 5t" calendar day after bid opening.

CALIFORNIA
Q3. I would like to request the Coachella Valley Water District reference drawings on the
domestic water improvement plans and the sewer plans. There is a table on the title
sheet of the water and sewer improvements referencing CVWD reference drawings. If
you could provide them all that would be helpful for the project bidding. Are as built
drawings available for the existing sewer lines on both ends of the new bridges? Are
the existing flows in these lines known? This information would be helpful in determining
the costs for the necessary Sewer Bypass for this portion of the project.

Q4. Sheet B4 & B5 notes section references B7-10/U-8 (Caltrans standard) for casing
details. This detail states that "for pipe diameter not shown on project plans, use pipe
2ft OD x 1/4" min wall thickness through 2'-8" Diameter opening". The pipe diameter is
not shown in the plans however the openings are called out on sheet B11 as 18,,x21"
& 18N18", which are too small for a 2ft casing per the Caltrans standard call out. Please
specify the diameter & length of the casing. Please provide a bid item to cover this
work?
A. Utility opening sizes are shown in Sheet 11311 of the bridge plan.
Caltrans Std plan 1137-10 utility opening size is applicable where the
dimensions are not shown on the plans.
For future utility under the approach slab shall follow Std Plan 1137-10
Detail U-8.
There is no separate bid item for the future utility opening and the pipe,
and shall be included as part of the bridge work.
Q5. Request to reconsider sole use of impact hammer driving method.
A. Temporary casing may be installed by alternative sequences of driving
the casing/pushing and drilling to remove the soil plug from within the
casing. However, tip of the casing shall be maintained at least +10-ft
below the tip excavation at all times. If the ground water is
encountered a differential water head inside the casing shall be
maintained at least by 5-ft above the hydrostatic head.
The full depth temporary casing is specified so that the synthetic fluid
will not be required to stabilize the sides of the drill hole.

Pursuant to the Invitation to Bid, and in accordance with the provisions therein stated, the
undersigned hereby proposes and agrees that on award by the City under this Bid, to execute
a Contract, with necessary bonds, to furnish and install any and all labor, materials,
transportation and services for City Project No. 2011-05, Federal Project No. BRNBIL
(537), Dune Palms Road Bridge Improvements, in accordance with the plans and
specifications therefore adopted and on file with the City within the time hereinafter set forth
and at the prices named in this Bid. It is understood that the basis of award shall be the
lowest total price of all Base Bid Areas and all Additive Alternates.
Unit prices in each and every case represent the true unit price used in preparing the bid
schedule totals (Bid Form). Unit prices listed herein include material, installation and
appurtenant work as is necessary to have the item complete and in place meeting the full
intent of the plans and specifications. Item #2A is predetermined for bidding purposes
only and only actual costs incurred for utility inspection from utility companies shall
be paid without mark-up.
Furthermore, this project has broken down the Base Bid areas according to project funding
requirements, therefore several of the same bid items have been split between the Base Bid
Areas. The following is a listing of the "duplicate" bid items numbers and their corresponding
Base Bid location for Contractor reference. In the Bid Schedule, the "Duplicate" items have
been noted with a (D) in the description.
