Description: The one-story single family residence at 79915 Fiesta Drive was built in the Tract Ranch style with custom elements. It has an L-shaped plan and low-pitched cross dutch gable roof with broad overhanging eaves. The exterior walls are wood frame clad with board and batten siding. The building faces north from the south side of Fiesta Drive with an asymmetrical façade. The roof has open eaves with a facia board, and clad in wooden shingles. The is a large brick chimney at the side elevation. The fenetration at the front elevation consists of a small aluminum framed sliding window, a fixed dual-pane window with internal shutters, a large tripartite aluminum framed sliding glass windows (sliding / fixed / sliding), and a wood framed double front door with large glass panels. The wood front door is located beneath a shallow eaver overhang. An attached garage with a front facing gable end is located on the west side of the front elevation.Character defining features of Ranch style homes that can be seen on the subject property include: asymmetrical façade, wood frame construction, attached garage, a low-pitched roof, board-and-batten siding, and a minimal front porch. The front door, windows, and garage door along the front elevation are replacements. Statement of Significance Continued: Past owners and occupants include: Robert, Judith B., and Steve Melkesian (1975-1981; Desert Sun / Permits). Judith Melkesian was a co-founder of the Marywood Country Day School and Desert Sand Unified School District teacher. She was also president of Soroptimist International of La Quinta / Palm Desert. The home was built in the Tract Ranch style within the Indian Springs residential subdivision, recorded in 1960-61, and is within the Indian Springs (previously the Westward Ho Golf Club) neighborhood. The subject property was constructed in 1963 by the Westward Ho and Bellwood Discount Corporation, who built Tract Ranch style homes with Custom elements between 1961 and 1965. The dwelling is associated with the theme of Residential Development (1934-1970s), being located in one of La Quinta's first subdivisions after the development of the Cove, but it does not possess individual documented significance in relation to this theme.
