Description: The one-story single-family residence at 79975 Westward Ho Drive was built in the Tract Ranch style with custom elements. It has an L-shaped plan and low-pitched cross dutch gable roof with broad overhanging eaves. The exterior walls are wood frame clad with board and batten siding, with stone veneer at the base. The building faces north from the south side of Westward Ho Drive with an asymmetrical façade. The roof has open eaves with a fascia board, is clad with red concrete tiles, and has a stone veneered chimney at the center of the roof. The fenetration at the front elevation consists of large single-pane fixed vinyl framed windows with internal shutters and one single-paned fixed steel framed window on the garage gable end. The front entrance is recessed and features two wood paneled doors. An attached garage with a front facing gable end is located on the east side of the front elevation with the garage door facing west. Character defining features of Ranch style homes that can be seen on the subject property include: asymmetrical façade, wood frame construction, attached garage, a low-pitched roof, board-and-batten siding, and a recessed front porch. In 2010, property owner Cheri L Miller obtained a permit to build a 53 LF 6ft high Garden Wall; the work was completed by Legacy Constructors Inc (Permit No. 10-0416). In 2016, property owner Cheri Miller obtained a permit to construct a raised bond beam addition to the existing pool at rear yard; the work was completed by Desert Sand Pool Construction (Permit No. 2016-0113). Aerial photography did not offer any additional information regarding changes to the property over time. The pool appears to have been added after initial construction. The home was built in the Tract Ranch style within the Indian Springs residential subdivision, recorded in 1960-61, and is within the Indian Springs (previously the Westward Ho Golf Club) neighborhood. The subject property was constructed in 1963 by the Westward Ho and Bellwood Discount Corporation, who built Tract Ranch style homes with Custom elements between 1961 and 1965. The dwelling is associated with the theme of Residential Development (1934-1970s), being located in one of La Quinta's first subdivisions after the development of the Cove, but it does not possess individual documented significance in relation to this theme.
