RESOLUTION NO.85-56
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA QUINTA, CALIFORNIA,
ESTABLISHING THE LA QUINTA CITY EMPLOYEES' ASSOCIATION AS A *ORGANIZED
EMPLOYEE ORGANIZATION**ZATICN.
WHEREAS, the Meyer 5-Millias-Brown Act Coverntr*nt Code 3500-3510) provides that
recognized *employee organizations shall have the right to represent their ir*rribers in
their employee relations with public agencies; and
*HEEEAS, the La Quinta City Employees' Association has heen established and
represents all employees of the City except the following positions: City Manager,
City Attorney, Administrative Services Coordinator, co[m*ity DEVELOPMENT Director,
Community Safety Coordinator, Adrr*istrative Secretary to the City Manager and City
Council; and
*HERAS, said La Quinta City E*tployees' Association has requested that the City
of La Quinta establish said Association as the recognized *employee organization for
the purpose of representation of the City employees, with exceptions noted, relative
to employment conditions and *tployer-enployee relations; and
*EAS, it is in the best interests of the City and the City Employees' Associa-
tion to recognize said Association in order to e*dite the meet and confer process
required by law.
N*, ThER*I*E, BE IT BESOLVE* that the City Council of the City of La Quinta does
hereby recognize the La Quinta City Employees' Association as the recognized *tployee
organization representing all City *r*loyees except the City Manager, City Attorney,
Administrative Services Coordinator, Cortt[iunity Development Director, Corrinunity Safety
Coordinator, Administrative Secretary to the City Manager and City Council.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVEI) that said La Quinta City Employees1 Association shall be
the exclusive organization to Iteet and confer with the Municipal Employee Relations
Officer, in accordance with provisions of the Meyers-Millias-Brawn Act, on all ifiatters
relating to employment conditions and employer*employee relations, including wages,
hours, and other teres and conditions of employment.
