CC Resolution 1985-089 Rules of ProcedureB ^"0 RESOLUTION NO. 85-89 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA QUINTA, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE COUNCIL'S RULES OF PROCEDURE RELATING TO THE SELECTION OF MAYOR AND MAYOR PRO TEM. BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of La Quinta, California, as follows: SECTION 1. Resolution 82-14, which established rules of procedure for Council meetings and related functions and activities, hereby is amended by amending the second paragraph of Section 3.1 thereof PRESIDING OFFICER), to read as follows: In accordance with Government Code Section 36801, the Council shall meet, after each general municipal election, on the Tuesday at which the resolution declaring the election's results is adopted, and choose one of its number as mayor and one as mayor pro tem. Each selection shall be by three or more affirmative votes, and a failure to achieve such total of affirmative votes, shall be deemed a selection of the incumbent(s) to remain in office. Each person so selected shall serve until a successor is chosen at any time) by three or more affirmative votes, provided, that at the second regular meeting in November of each odd numbered year, the office of mayor and mayor pro tem shall automatically be reconsidered by the Council.
